Kaleta couldn't care less about what Milbury thinks

http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/sa...icle730609.ece

Quote:
In the first intermission of the Boston game, Milbury, speaking on national TV, chastised Kaleta for being a pest and largely for starting an altercation with Lucic while wearing a visor.

Kaleta laughed when asked about Milbury's comments.

"I'm worried about what my guys in here think of me," Kaleta said. "I'm perfectly fine going home and throwing together a Lego set and just hanging out with my buddies. I don't need tons of people to like me. If they don't, I'm doing my job."

Milbury is a tool. Lucic is a goon and a dirty player, 75% of the league wears visors, atleast Kaleta doesn't back down from anyone.

While not the least bit surprising, I'm amused that Kaleta chose to say, "Put together a Lego set."

Milbury's judgement isn't something I'd be too worried about, either.

That's one thing I like about Kaleta; he takes criticism with a shrug of the shoulders and knows the reason he's in the league.

Even as an adult, I do, however, admit wish to have the time to build lego sets.

Let's be honest...

Kaleta is much more of a goon and a dirty player than Lucic. I mean, really. Many players, like Lucic, will actually REMOVE their helmet for a fight. Kaleta? He likes to turtle. He sure gets an awful lot of respect around here considering he's more of a hit-and-run specialist.

By the way, Lucic is also a far better player: He's already scored 20 goals and has 41 points, compared to Kaleta's anemic 5 goals and 7 points.

A little off topic, but here is an article from USA hockey about Kaleta's lego hobby. Who woulda thunk?

The one thing I agree with you on is the skill level of the two players. Lucic is definitely more skilled than Kaleta. Other than the idiocy with the head butt earlier this year, Kaleta has been pretty clean on his hitting and playing for the last couple of years. Lucic, on the other hand, has had multiple incidents of goonery just this year. Lucic is much more of a goon than Kaleta right now. As for turtling, Kaleta does turtle on occasion, but he also fights a bit too.

Who cares?

Kaleta isn't paid to score. He's paid to hit, and draw the other team into dumb penalties. For the most part, he's been effective at that in his career.

And let's work with some facts here. Lucic has been in 4 fights this year according to Hockeyfights. Out of those four (Gaustad,Carkner,Setisto,Kaleta), Lucic removed his helmet exactly ONCE, against Gaustad. (Goose took his off too.) He kept his lid on for all the other scraps.

Which is exactly why Kaleta won that matchup even though he got beat down...he got a bigger and more talented player off the ice for 2 minutes. I'll make that trade again and again.

My first thought when hearing this during the broadcast was that Milbury's right. Real men don't fight with visors, they fight bare-headed . . . with 12-year olds.

Milbury is an idiot and a an obvious Bruin fan. Everything he says should probably be ignored.

Well put.

Unfortunate that some have selective memory to draw opinions on.

Milbury is a large arse, and should be largely ignored... Like Bucky

More specifically, he works for NESN. He's not just a fan, he's an employee.

Kaleta's a pest. And he's good at it.

Everytime Mike Milbury speaks on television the emergency broadcast system should alert all viewers that Milbury was the guy that traded:

Olli Jokien and Roberto Luongo for Mark Parrish

Todd Bertuzzi and Bryan McCabe for Trevor Linden

Spezza, Chara For Yashin
The Islanders are still literally paying for the insane contract he gave Yashin

Its would just be a simple public service announcement

Milbury was just on the other night talking about how he likes to see people elbowing each other in the head. Just the latest in a long history of ridiculous statements for that knucklehead.

I feel differently about visor fighting than I did a couple of years ago. A couple of years ago less players wore them, so it really stood out when someone was fighting with one on. I remember scraps where Iginla would go through this big display of taking off his elbow pads, then fight someone with his visor on.

I still don't like to see anyone start a fight while wearing one. Sometimes the punches are exchanged before anyone has a chance to toss the lids. This one was kind of like that. If Kaleta takes his helmet off before he gets in Lucic's face, Lucic would probably have skated away and let Kaleta take some kind of unsportsmanlike penalty. Instead, Kaleta gets in his face and the punches come quickly.

Kaleta is a punk, but I like him
Lucic is a talented goon, but I don't like him
Mulbury is a mental midget, and I'm indifferent to him

Even before going after a 12-year old, any guy who climbs into the stands to beat on a fan with his shoe has ceded the moral highground.

Earlier this year I was pretty frustrated with Kaleta. Constant nagging injuries probably added to his less-than-stellar self early on.

However, He has been doing his job well the past couple weeks. He hit Chara, knowing that Zdeno can't stand when someone does that, and what did it do; drew a penalty.

He fought Lucic just to keep the fans in the game and prove a point. Sure, I think fighting with a visor is unfair, but I think that I'd also love to keep my eyesight when I retire so I can't fault players who do have them even if they're aggressive.

They won that game 6-0, despite what Milbury & Co said. I hope that it helped them get over the "big bad bruins" issues they've had lately.

Opposing team fans & players hate him, so he's doing his job.

Nowhere in his quote did he say hes(kaleta) better. Lucic IS a GOON and IS a DIRTY PLAYER. Just because someone is a GOON doesnt mean they can't score. I Do think Kaleta, if he doesn't go out of his way to tag people, will see an improvement in his reputation around the league. He's a good player to have on your 3rd or 4th line. He needs to find a way to control himself. Let players start chasing him. I would like to see what Pat and Cody can do together if they can be disciplined...Thats a big if though.

With that said, I want to see Pat answer for some of his stuff.

Other than the one stupidity that got him his 4 game suspension earlier in the year (and deservedly so), Kaleta has cleaned up his game the last couple of years. He's still a pest, but not a "goonish" pest, and has controlled himself. No matter what he does, I doubt his reputation will ever improve.

And he does answer for some of his stuff, when it's the smart thing to do.
