Every year there is a "rumour" of someone trading a high pick.

This one sounds plausible, though. Columbus is terrified of Russians and Howson is an idiot.

I want nothing to do with Murray if we're starting wedge in net..

We'd lose every game 45-0.

I think you have to take Yakupov there anyway regardless of the defensive need

Defensive need? What we actually need is a damn forward prospect. We kinda don't have any guys left with high end upside.

Yeah, what we really need is Dumba 7 years from now.

Who's got a time machine?

I was just covering myself for the BOUCHER! or COLEMAN! posts, but you're absolutely right.

We don't have any damn forward prospects.

At some point we'll start swapping defense for forwards.

Soon, hopefully. The reason the Devils have had a lot of trouble with the defense over the last few years is because the D prospect cupboard ran dry and it takes years to get it back on track when that happens.

Probably not this offseason; we don't have any spots for defensemen to break into the NHL, so we won't choose between them. Next offseason, when we're hitting potential significant UFA and retirement losses.

Say whatever you want about them, but those guys have decent potential. I get what you`re saying though.

Agreed with CD, next offseason is much more likely.

Was just perusing the stats page on NHL.com and found some interesting stats that surprised me a bit...

1. There are only two teams that haven't lost a game when leading after 2 periods: Boston (26 games) the second team...Washington (20 games).
2. Winnipeg is the only team that haven't won a game when trailing after 2 periods. They are 0-21.

Might as well get rid of the cap if it gets that high.
Yeesh, that's insanely high. We'd have plenty of cap space, and so would other teams. Doesn't bode well for Parise, especially if we still have issues with hard currency. Other teams who we might have assumed were capped out, will have the space to sign him.

Columbus could ruin anybody though. Canadian, Russian, Martian, it doesn't matter. The reason their prospects busted isn't because they are Russian, it's because they developed them terribly.

While true, this doesn't change the fact that Columbus is terrified of Russians.
