I think that's going a bit far. I like Tao, but he isn't better than Kubina yet.
If Kubina is better than Taormina defensively, it's not by much. Kubina will be another Foster, but he'll be more expensive, and he'll play more, and we'll have given up more than Pelley and Fraser to get him. Absolutely no thank you.
I'm loving how what seemed like a potential lackluster trade deadline is starting to pick up with excitement again. Maybe that's in large part to the connection of the Devils with a player yesterday in the Zidlicky news (aside from Rick Nash's potential availability of course). But still. I'm suddenly enjoying this all over again. I would like us to get someone, but really only if its a logical fit/improvement. I wouldn't be heartbroken if no move was made, because I don't think its worth betting the farm on a role player if asking prices got too high. Should be fun to watch from here on out though.

I am amused by that writer trying to play up a WHC goal as a huge deal. By definition, the NHL players going there either didn't make the playoffs, or crashed out early. Trying to pass off Nash as a clutch performer is absurd.

Not really.
Nash wasn`t particularly good either. That said, he`s always been a very good performer at international level.
Kubina isn't as bad as some are making him out to be, but he's not nearly as good as others think he still is either.
He's a Salvador clone. Look at his age, stats, blocks and hits. Almost perfectly align except for the $1M difference in salary (more expensive), takes twice as many shots and can play the PP.
So a Salvador that can play the PP and hit the net. I dunno - would rather more the Zidlicky/Rafalski type at this point but could be worse.
Having a team in a city that actually cares about the sport should be a priority for the NHL. If Québec actually does get a team, I'm 110% certain that the NHL will benefit 10x more in terms of revenues then trying to force something, like staying in Phoenix.
Having two teams in our province would be the ultimate rivalry once again and I'm certain that alot of Habs fans would jump ship and cheer for the "Nordiques".
