It will be more about how long the contract is than how much money per year.
I'm guessing around $7 mil, but for how long? Does he do 5/6 years at $7 mil so he has more options for the rest of his life and so financially ownership isn't committed to a large amount of money over a long period of time like the Kovy contract?

I just want him signed for at least next year. Preferably a 6-7 year deal would be nice. But I'm fine with a 2-4 year deal.
However, I think he laughs if he's offered only a 2-4 year deal.

He won't be offered one if it is 2-4 years. That would be something he asks for. The money is a big factor in this, but for him it is also the chance to win. He has stated this many times. If he isn't completely convinced he can win here he may sign a short term deal so he has the option to leave. The playoffs are extremely important this year for many reasons. The longer they are in the playoffs, the more money the team makes. That helps the ownership situation. It's pretty obvious that winning in the playoffs will help with Parise staying.
A 7 yr deal is best for him because it will end when he is 34, allowing him to sign his final multi-year contract at under 35 rules.
The wild card is the next CBA. Will 35 rule automatically kick in upon reaching 35 or will there be additional rules added to avoid circumvention with the cap.
Those are questions to be answered before inking long term deals.

but he will be signing his deal before a new CBA is finalized (i would imagine) so it would make sense to plan for it
Before Wild games, they always have someone announce over the PA, "Let's Play Hockey!" Doc did it today, and he accidentally added an extra word, saying "Let's go play hockey!"
