Impressive game by the Jackets tonight...congrats. Mason was superb.

Glad it happened for a few reasons:

1. Happy that you guys got a win after all the hoopla today
2. We need a wake-up call before this big road-trip

We'll take the rest of them, though. Wouldn't want you guys losing out on Yakupov sweepstakes

Nice game tonight. Finally got that losing monkey off my back after 2 grueling months.

Man, that game was vintage Hitch hockey.

Fun game, though. Lot's of good drama.

What a great game !!!! Nice to see us give Hitch a taste of his own medicine. I can't believe how hard the guys competed in the second and third periods.

I also think it was the first time in franchise history that we got three goal review calls in our favor in one game.

Completely agree, EDM, good game to watch. A highlight on the goal reviews was during the wait for judgement on Wiz' goal at the end of the period: the ops crew outdid themselves by cueing up "Tell Me Something Good," from 1974, by Chaka Khan and Rufus.

Congrats on the win. Columbus deserved it more than the Blues last night.

Blues fan here in peace.

I know you guys pretty much hate our guts, but I like the Blue Jackets.

Great win the other night! Beat the Blues at their own game. Many are blaming the loss on a tired Blues team, but I say hogwash.

Hope you can turn around your franchise. Good luck!

I don't know if we really have a lot of Blues hate. They are always chippy games, and the teams don't seem to like each-other to much. We are pretty tired of getting our ***** handed to us on a regular basis by all of our division mates.

I was a big Blues fan before we got our NHL team, so I will be rooting hard for them in the play-offs.

Thanks for the kind words.

You must have because the previous 2 games he was solid too. In the Ducks game you can only put 1 of the goals on him and the Wild game he was very good. If you have watch him at all the past three game you can see a change in his game. He is not sliding all over the ice ans he has not been giveing up big rebounds.

I think it's way too early to say he's back. Against the Blues, there were about a half dozen times where we got really lucky to not give up a goal. Even if he has two good games Sat/Sun, I think the body of work over the last 2+ seasons carries more weight than a good week of hockey.

Agree 100% with this.

We were at the shoot twice end in the lower bowl Tuesday so didn't have a great view of the Columbus net in the 1st or the 3rd, but it sure seemed like there were a LOT of scrambly moments there where I was sure I'd see the ref point to the net any second and he didn't. It's didn't *feel* like this was thanks to Mason from our vantage point, but was hard to tell.

I'd love to see him do well, but I have absolutely zero trust in him at this point. Ship him off somewhere. Even if it's in the division, the worst he can do is beat us six times a year. He's done much worse than that the last three years...

I've heard that before.

He has a nack for pulling it together every couple months, and having a nice stretch of hockey, but I'm done with Mason. I can't think of a worse goalie that has had the privelage of starting for a team in the NHL over the last 4 seasons. 1 good year, followed by 3 horrible years. His GAA hasn't been below 3.00 since his rookie year. He'll be 24 in May, there is no unrealized potential left. This is what he is, a very mediocre professional goalie that probably likely bounce between back up duty and the AHL for the rest of his career. That might sound harsh, and its certainly not personal in any way, but its time we stop lying to ourselves about Mason.

You can laugh all you want. Never said he was back just that he has looked solid the past three games. Just because you don't like a player does not mean he cant be given credit for something.

sorry, I edited the post before your response. I didn't want to start a tit for tat. I won't argue with you that he is playing well atm, but we've been through this with Mason time after time, and its always the same old scenario. He'll get hot for a couple weeks, then he'll stink the joint up for a month.

So yeah, i have watched him the last 3 games, but it doesn't change my overall opinion.

The game against the Blues could have easily been a 4-2 loss.
Wisniewski saved the puck literally on the goal line. Also, the Blues missed a number of open net looks.

Mason may have played well but he also was extremely lucky.

What game can this not be said about?

I could just as easily say that the Jackets could have beat the Duck 2-1 had Ryan Jo not missed an open net and had the team not turned the puck over 4 time giving the ducks easy goals.

Every goaltender in the league lives and dies with luck. Good or bad. And every goalie in the league is bailed out many times during a game by his defense. The amount of times he is bailed out by his defenders will be greatly influenced by the quality of the defense.

Granted Mason has been his own worst enemy for the last few seasons, but he has received little help from his defenders many times over.

That is the awful combination that we have been living with for the past three seasons. A goalie that cannot seem to bail out his defense, and a defense that can't seem to bail out it's goalie.

Thanks Scott.
