He's a restricted free agent. He can't bail to anywhere but Europe.

Offer sheet.

It's how much money he wants, but I don't think he'll get a long term contract yet.

The Stars will match any offer sheet unless someone is dumb enough to give him superstar money.

Doubt any team throws that kind of money at him with the CBA still up in the air.

It's amazing the NHL would create a CBA that expires in September. It should expire on June 31 before free agency starts.

I agree. Sometimes I wonder how much thought they put into it.

Yes? If anyone was going to get financially leveraged in to accepting a sheet it was Tampa and stamkos last year

Something on a different note.

I think Loui Eriksson is gonna be a Teemu Selänne/Nicklas Lidström type player, where he's still gonna be a top-end player, even while he's in his late 30s, early 40s.

What do you guys think?

Consistent, plays the style, I think it's very reasonable to think he'd be like them.

Just checked. If he were to keep his career pace up for ~14 more seasons (40), he'd be a 500 goal scorer and have ~1300 points.

As sure as anyone can ever be about anything.

A team that's missed the playoffs 4 years straight is going to let their dynamic, budding star walk in the offseason? Might as well fold the franchise and go home to Saskatchewan, as Gulutzan would say.

Ya he doesn't play a style of hockey that wears down. I could easily see him playing into his late 30s and still be a producer.

Well, it's been a fun season. it's unfortunate we couldn't get to the post-season.

These are the guys I think we should keep for sure next season:

Benn
Eriksson
Ryder
Dvorak
Fiddler
R.Smith
Vincour
Lehtonen
Gologoski
Fistric
Daley
Larsen

Guys that can garner a decent return
Ott
Ribeiro

Guys that should be gone for sure:
Morrow
Robidas
Peterson
Dowell
Pardy

Undecided:
Nystrom
Bachman
Burish
Wandell
Souray
Garbutt

Why are you undecided about these 3? I think they're all keepers, Nystrom is a good 3rd liner IMO and Garbutt has so much potential.

In an ideal world our roster is deep enough to push nystrom to the fourth line, and garbutt a scratch.

Nystrom was a beast for a solid part of the season and then tapered of (injuries blah, blah, blah)
Still like him, but not 100% sure

I really like Bach's but if we can get a decent deal for him he wouldn't be missed IMO
(Can feel the flaming coming)

Garbutt has been a pleasant surprise this season, but who knows if he can keep his intensity for a whole season. Hence undecided.

Agree with you on the 2nd point actually, but I actually still would prefer to see him in a Stars uniform, don't really want them to have to gamble on another backup (see Raycroft, Auld)...

3rd point, I want to see how he would handle a whole season. I could even see him moving up the lines from 4th line, but that'd have to be a perfect season. We'll see but he's a keeper specifically so we can see what his potential is.

Changes I'd make in bold. Didn't want to redo a whole thing.

Essentially, we've got 5 top 6 forwards (counting R. Smith). Fiddler and Vincour are 3rd liners. Wandell a 4th liner. Dvorak can come back cheap for the last spot on the 3rd line, I'd like to see Garbutt keep his spot on the 4th line along with Nystrom there, too. Leaves one top 6 forward spot open, give it to Fraser, Glennie, or some average FA we pick up. Whoever looks the best in TC.

We've still got 4 defenders. Souray can return for another year at 1.5, but only ~12 minutes a game as a PP specialist. Sign someone like Garrison or Mitchell, or drop Souray and let Dillon, Benn, etc. fight over the spot.

We don't need Wandell. Like, at all.

I agree completely. Honestly with the soon emergence of Campbell I figured the stars were kind of playing Bachman to show him off to other teams as future trade bait.

I thought Dvorak is one of the most unappreciated players for the Stars. As for Ott, I would have put him in both GONE and TRADABLE but then I would have had to put Morrow under both as well, and who can be bothered

I don't know. I like him for some reason. He's a great energy line guy with wicked wheels, and he didn't look completely out of place filling in for Ribs.
