Overpayment to the hilt for LA.

Nash is really, really good, but he is also really, really expensive for many years to come.

These long contracts decrease value no matter how good the player is.

Youre looking at Bernier/Johnson, A+ prospect, UFA and a 1st for Nash. Even then LA might balk. Its too big for one player.

Then Nash isn't going to LA, because those deals aren't even close to enough.

Close, some may not agree but the one thing this franchise has never had is a franchise or long term starting goalie.. There have been a few decent ones; Tuggnut, Conklin, Garon and now Sanford but all (not Sandy) where traded or not resigned.. If Nash is traded they must get a goalie... Our defense has a few good players; Tyutin, Nikitin and Wisniewski come to mind but that is the next area that should be improved. Even without Nash if Yakupov is added to Carter, Brassard, Prospal and even Umberger that's a good start for new offense. We will see.

Not really. As is customary for fans, we overvalue our players when it comes to market.

Nash will fetch one NHL top line player/goaltender, 1 prospect/pick and a 1st in 2012. A UFA here and there will get thrown in to Columbus to even out the $$$, but thats it.

Well, if Nash is dealt, you are going to be sorely disappointed either way then.

Look what Kovalchuk fetched. I understand if you want to hold onto Nash, I get that. But youre not getting two Top6 NHL players or 2 NHL Top4 dmen (or 1 forward and 1 dman, or 1 dman and 1 goalie, etc), an A+ prospect and a first round pick for anyone that isnt named Malkin, Crosby or Ovechkin. Nash isnt anyone of those players, no one is.

I know what he will fetch. I disagree that the players you are listing are of any quality to get a player like Nash. You are overvaluing the Kings players more than I am Nash's, IMO.

Honestly Columbus needs to do what Florida did this year.

Florida got rid of 90% of their roster, kept their most useful 2-3 players and signed an entirely new team. Now look at them.

I have over-stayed my welcome. Dont get too down. You have successfully "Failed for Nail" unless ping pong balls dont respect Columbus, too.

In the end, keep Nash, trade Nash, your team will be better off either way.

Those 2-3 players would include Nash.

Kovalchuk was a pending UFA who was leaving.

Nash is a 26 year old 40 goal scorer who has like 6 years left.

These two situations cannot be compared.

I'll believe it when I see it, but I wouldn't be surprised at this point.

Pahlsson and Huselius are UFA.

Pahlsson was brought in because he's a beast in the playoffs, the playoffs that he never got to see. He's been crap in the regular season.

Prospal likely makes Huselius expendable, barring a Nash trade at which point it's anybody's guess.

This. But they seriously need a new GM to do this.

Just wanting to know what you guys thinks of these potential packages from MTL:

2012 1st, Plekanec, Beaulieu
2012 1st, Eller, Gionta, Diaz

In the first one you'll get a first center, a blue chip prospect Dman and a high 1st rnd pick.

In the 2nd you get basically a top6 forward, a high end center (already a 2nd line center IMO), a high end D prospect and a high draft pick

If you any special interest beside Price, Subban and pacioretty please feel free to ask.

Panger reported on the Blues feed that Nash has given Howsen a short list of teams that he would accept a trade to. According to Pang Nash said he doesn't want to go but this season has been tough. He said the Blues are not in the running.
So who do you think is on the short list? I am ok with anybody except the wings... I bet the Leafs are on his list.

These posts are always confusing to me. Even if the fans all agree what are you going to do, petition the GMs to make your deal?

It was posted in our player movement thread but there are billion (for effect) posts there, I scanned and finally gave up looking for it.

I can just see us trading Nash, and short of a miracle signing in the offseason, who are we going to have represent in the All Star game? Carter? Thats really the only player on this team thats even close to All Star calibur

TSN (McKenzie/Lebrun/Dreger) believe the list Nash has given includes 5 teams: NYR, Philli, LA, Toronto & Vancouver.

Just think how happy any top line player would be from going to the Stanley Cup playoffs to Columbus.

It's a long time for that issue but perhaps Johansen? He did it once why not twice? We have to wait on that concern..

I was going to say that but pulled back, now that you have-if he has a bad rookie season you can be blamed...

Johansen isnt even in the top 10 in points for rookies. From what he's shown this year, he's a few years away from even being mentioned in the breath of all stars
