Why do the Canucks need Nash? Our biggest pressing need is on defense.

Not saying it'll happen, but cap space is not an issue.
nope cap space isnt the issue with that deal. The problem is you proposing to deal cap dumps + unproven goalie for a star player

This.

When i heard he was being made available i was thinking he'd be a good marquee player for the Jets to continue to build momentum around. Then i looked at his stats and his contract ... he's an anchor!! Maybe he'd thrive in another market, but I'm just not sure what CLB was thinking when they gave him that long deal with $8M per attached to it. Looking at their roster, they gave some iffy contracts to Method, Umberger, Wiz, Tyutin, etc.....

Get your flame suit!!!

Luongo has a NTC and I can guess he won't waive for Columbus.

And Friedman confirmed he nixed a trade sending Lecavalier to Montreal for a package that included Price.

I'd say that's about right. Top prospect, roster player and a 1st should do it.

Columbus will likely get Nail this off-season to replace Nash anyway.
Not going to be GARBAGE, but won't be anything amazing. I think they'll get a solid roster player (2nd liner/2nd pairer), a very good prospect, and a 1st. Maybe something else of depth value in there. Unless the deal is bigger than just Nash (but every Columbus player seems to be signed for the next 30 years or so, so who knows).

You have to have a goalie in there IMO. Probably a D man. 1st round pick.

Ugh - and NO it won't be Ballard, Schnieder, etc. I just look at what CBJ needs and these are two MAJOR pieces they are missing.

Lou has a NTC and GMMG won't ask a player to waive it, why would Lou ask to go now to of all place the CBJ?

GMMG also has said he won't pay anyone more than the Sedins, Nash makes more.

You can't be a Vancouver fan.

I still think it'll be a value close to four future first-rounders. As a co-developer of the liquid value theory, I feel confident in that.

Something like a first-rounder and two top prospects and a roster player, or two first-rounders and a top prospect and a roster player, or one elite prospect and a roster player...you get the idea.

Vancouver already knows there are going to get the same overage next year as they had this year

Luongo is much better than Nash and the addition of the 1st and Hodgson is overkill.

I don't think you HAVE to have a goalie in there at all. If Columbus is getting a 1st round pick, they can look for a goalie in the draft.

Personally, I think that trade is a laugher and Howsen gets the boot upon the NHL approving that deal.

Bernier -- top line goaltending prospect
Penner -- salary dump
Hunter -- major salar dump
Pick -- note, this does not read picks (plural). With that, a mid-1st 2012 doesn't do this deal any justice.

I am NOT a Nash fan, but even so, that return is a joke.

Swap out both Penner and certainly Hunter and replace them with solid NHL prospects (e.g., Martinez) and you're getting warmer.

LOL, Bobby Mac basically says it isn't worth responding too.

Eklund threw this out there because he knows the Kings need a scorer, the Jackets need a goalie, and because he thinks that if a rumor hits the public domain on someone of Nash's stature then a deal is imminent.

Cody has only 3 less goals than Nash in way less ice time and at a fraction of the cost.
I love Nash (I own his jersey), but with his contract I personally wouldn't give up much to get him. Certainly not all that.

I do Bernier, Voynov, another Kings prospect (anyone not named Toffoli is fine by me), 1st. Penner as a UFA Salary dump.

Hodgson wont be moved. Book it no chance this kid goes anywhere.
CLBJ needs a goalie and van has schneider would be the cornerstone of any nash deal.

The assets for nash would be schneider raymond and a 1st.
the salary they have to take is balard.

That might not be what clb fans want but there might not be a better package out there.

Bobby Mac's tweet was a bit disappointing. I was hoping for 'ass clown' part 2 from him. This thread would really blow up.

Man, the mods here need a serious drink after this. Hope you guys don't get carpal tunnel from all the deleting of posts.
