US vs Italy on ESPN2 about to start. Little bitter I can't see Germany playing on TV.

George McPhee....The Teflon GM. 15 years of failure and counting....
6 - Number of playoff series the Capitals have won since George McPhee took over as General Manager in 1997 (which makes him the third-longest-tenured GM in the League), three of which came in McPhee's first season on the job.
Man...after watching a lot of EPL, La Liga, and Champions league this year for the first time, it's even more painful to watch the US style of play and lack of quality.
Howard and Dempsey have played together many times...
I would argue that Landon Donovan is a better player than Howard. Not that Howard is not a great goaltender, but GKs are something the United States has never seemed to lack. It's the other 10 positions on the field we struggle with.

I'm just giving you a hard time. Donovan is probably the best player on the team, but I can never get myself to like him. Dempsey is just so much easier to root for, if you ignore his insane godliness. Howard is much more likable as well.

Yeah if this game was played with 1 field player and 10 goaltenders the US would dominate...
Is the Borini about to come on the former Chelsea Youth product? Still can't believe we sold him. Such a talent. Would rather have him out there these days than Malouda or Torres.
Man, what is it with Chelsea and older top strikers whose careers seem to basically end there? Shevchenko, Torres..
Dunno, maybe it's the English soccer.. so frenetic and high-pressure that losing even half a step and a bit of confidence results in a death spiral even if you have all the tactical sense and skill and pedigree in the world.
Sheva used to be a cold blooded executioner in Milan. Torres seemed absolutely brilliant in Liverpool, just out-willing the defense time after time.

Pity..
Well pre Abramovich Chelsea was where top continental, especially Serie A, players came for a nice EPL payday and to see out their careers.
Gullit, Vialli, Petrescu, Zola, Di Matteo, and the list goes on...
And we were silly enough to put Suarez in the same conversation at the start of the season. RvP showed the difference today scoring his 2 chances while Suarez made a mess out of his.
