Interested to see what picks they sent to TB... maybe a 1st?

Nevermind, a 2nd and a 5th

That's a deeeeep line up that gives you a bit of everything, holy smokes. Hope we can see the Oilers be able to ice a line up half as good as that one day. Even without Pronger their depth is phenomenal, the one problem is still goaltending however.

Flyers at 51 contracts. Something else has to be up. Rumored that Carle may be moved.

Jon Kalinski was just a last minute scratch for the Phantoms.

I'd assume it's him.

Looks like the going rate for a solid but not star quality UFA playoff rental is a 2nd round pick +. Kubina, Grossman, Gill & Moore.

Obviously Tambellini is holding out for a 1st rd pick + with Hemsky. Let's see who's going to bite.

BTW, i wish Tambellini will do what Stevie Y just did, pull the player out of the line up to protect the trade asset.

He's still under contract though no?

Kalinski? Yeah.

He was probably pulled at the last second because he is going to be/has been traded.

You forgot Simmonds in the forward corps

Yeah they have a phenomenal team. Their forwards and D will, in my opinion, lead them to have a very deep playoff run.

I still think Bryz has the potential to rebound, but having a D which will take away shots that he has right now will make his job a lot easier.

I gotta say, their GM is top notch.

Really? I'd gouge my eyes out if my team gave up two great young F prospects that each could be as effective as Nash and the best netminder on my team for a guy making the 4th highest salary in the league and producing like the 100th with 7 years left on that contract.

If Moore, Gill, and Kubina are worth 2nd+, then what the hell is Hemsky worth haha. I'm thinking he might fetch more than we think.

I noticed Pronger in that defense corps, but he's done for the year, if I'm not mistaken.

I'm sort of afraid of acquiring Bernier. He no doubt has the draft pedigree. But his numbers in the NHL so far in his career are not spectacular (no better than Dubnyk).

I guess the one thing he does have going for him is elite AHL numbers which is a promising sign I suppose.

IMO Bernier is okay but a bit overrated. He looks quite small in net to me. At 6 ft, it's not a good size for goalie anymore these days.

Currently there is only 1 goalie under 6"1 in the top ten categories of Wins and Save %, and that's Tim Thomas. I'd rather us go with goalie with good size which would be at least 6"1 and above.

Instead of Bernier, I would rather take Voynov, or 1st + if LA wants Hemsky.

I feel the same way.

As a general rule, goalies are so unpredictable that I don't like the idea of using valuable assets to acquire them. Trying to project any goalie, let alone a young goalie, with any confidence is almost impossible.

I prefer the approach of drafting goalies in the mid-to-late rounds and seeing if any develop, and complimenting that development stream with some shrewd, low-risk UFA signing (like Harding or Bishop as an example this summer).

That said, I think I might take Bernier over the likes of Blum/Voynov/Ellerby/ect if I had too choose. Those dman don't really help matters going forward to much imho, and Bernier's AHL numbers at 20 and especially at 21 (AHL goalie of the year, stellar playoffs) are exceptional.

At the NHL level he has not really had the chance to prove himself much, being stuck behind a great starter in Quick. Not unlike Harding in MIN for all those years, or Schneider in VAN and Enroth in BUF more recently; Bernier may just need a chance to run with it a bit. At the moment is unable due to no real fault of his own.

One potential issue for Bernier at the NHL level may be his size though, being only 5'11. But I am not sure how much of a difference that really makes.

I am on record wanting to keep Hemsky, but it does not look like that will happen unfortunately. Bernier might make the most sense out of the other offers being mentioned, despite the uncertainty surrounding goalies.

But with Pronger they likely can't afford Kubina and Grossman

Did anyone catch the Hotstove tonight. I think Eric Francis said Gagner was told he wouldn't be moved.

Yes?

No. He said that Gagner wasn't told that he won't moved.

And how many players are told they won't be moved? Meaningless comment by Francis IMO.

Francis is such a hack. Just trying to stir up a controversy.

OMG Sam Gagner hasn't been told he wont be traded!

Apparently there was a report Sam was told he wouldn't be moved; Francis was saying that's not the case.

Really wish Smyth would let us move him at the deadline. The extra first rounder we get could sure come in handy in an attempt to trade in a package for a nhl ready defenseman.

Watching Jack Johnson tonight, I know every one talks about his +/- but he is exactly what this team needs.

He said it would be bad for the family. I'm not sure why. I mean the family doesn't have to go, just him. But I don't know the exact details. To an extent, I think he promised LA he wants to be here and just here, so he doesn't want to look bad by moving.

I agree that him and Hemsky should go, get first rounders, and sign right back july 1st.
