If Hemsky will take 2 years theres no reason to not re sign him. Get it done Tambo.

I don't see Hemsky taking a 2-3 year deal unless it was at like 6mill a year

Entertaining 2 or 3 years is one thing, we'll see.

My suspicion:

2 years, 5.25M cap hit. Probably 7M upfront.

3 years, 5M cap hit, similarly, most of the cash up front. 6.5, 4.25, 4.25.

He might be worried cosidering the market being set by much better players like Neal.

To Washington: Hemsky, Gagner + 2nd

To Edmonton: Kuznetzov and COL 1st

Draft Grigorenko, Reinhart/dman

Future lineup:

Hall RNH Eberle
PVR Grigorenko Kuznetzov

Whitney Reinhart
Petry Smid
Klefbom Gernat
I know this works just fine in fantasyland but in reality this doesn't work really well. Reinhart is a fine WHL player and his physical attributes and lineage make him very appealing but that does not make him a top 2 pairing in the NHL. Ditto for Klefbom, Grigorenko and Kuznetsov...and yes I did see Kuznetsov light it up in the WJHC, that translates to jack squat in the NHL.

Bob McKenzie on his TSN segment says the NJD are considering going for it... mentioned Hemsky's name in connection with them...

paraphrasing "whether it's an Ales Hemsky or somebody else...". but that was the only example he gave out. Gotta figure Ales name has been discussed by Lou.

Tambo negotiating with Lou?

That won't end well.

Not much out of new jersey really interests me... maybe I'm just not familiar enough with their prospects?

I hear that.

I don't see anything I'd want to trade for that they'd be willing to part with.

I like Jon Merrill... but his attitude and IIRC, horrible draft interview, don't bode well for Oilers silks. Undeniable talent & undeniable issues.

Jon Merrill, Alex Urbom, Nick Palmieri, picks, etc?

I bet Elias would push to have his buddy on that team.

Seems interesting, but if he is ready to accept 2-3 years i'd rather keep him.

McKenzie also said that Ott might be available. I would go all out for Ott, the exact player we need. I'm not sure if Dallas would want to sell him like Grossman or look for NHL ready assets to push for a Playoff run tho.

Then again... just imagine a Swedish duo on the blue line. Klefbom to Urbom!... (+ 1st round pick)

If Hemsky is willing to take a deal along the lines of

2 years/5 million (6m + 4m)

I'd consider it.

There's still the issue of him injuring himself though and us giving up a pick just to get him signed.

Watch, Tambo will probably get shafted, agreeing to take NJ's 1st rounder only for Lou to submit a request to the league to void this year's due to the Kovalchuk fiasco

I would consider 2/9 and 3/13.

They are shorter term deals, but they are both cap hit raises.

If he expects 5+ mill per after getting hurt the last 2 years and playing poorly this year, then trade him for the best package and hope you draft a player.

The only prospects form NJ I'd love as an Oiler is Jon Merrill and Jacob Josefson.

And there's no way they would deal any of those two for Hemsky. Lou's too smart for that. haha.

They also have to forfeit a 1st rounder. They should do it this year.

Can't see how both teams make good trading partners.

Despite the poor play, he's at least shown to be very tough this year, and I doubt he's saying he's as healthy as he's been in 3+ years just for fun.

He got rocked by Ott, has lost his bucket a few times, got threw to the ice in the slot and came back, got Kronwalled and only missed maybe one shift, and has taken most hits to make plays.

As long as the BS of pulling up going after icing calls is out of his game and the mgmt thinks he is committed, then I'm ok with it.

Thank you Bob McKenzie! NJ and Ott also interested in Hemsky!?

Please keep bringing up more teams, the more bidders the better for us!

Hope Tambellini is using Stauffer's leaking of the possibility of re-signing Hemsky as a ploy to drive up the price.

I still think LA needs Hemsky the most. They got a bunch of scorers (Brown, Williams, Richards, Penner) but not enough playmaker (Kopitar) or players that can hang on to the puck and dangle. Hemsky would be perfect for them.

Also, I hadn't heard Ott was available at all, even though Dallas seems to be moving out some assets right now.

However, on TSN tonight they mentioned he might be available. If so, that's a guy I would go hard after. Absolutely a guy this team needs going forward.

lol LA can't score. I don't think they need a playmaker. They'll probably try getting Nash.

Yup, pisses everyone off, hits everything in sight, and come somehow still have time to have the potential to put up 15 goals and nearly 40 points.

True, but it's not like they don't have any shooters.

Richards, Kopitar, Brown, Williams, Stoll, Penner, etc. can all score, so adding a Hemsky would still be beneficial IMO, just not directly adding goals.

If you call Howson and he says he wants Bernier, Johnson, 1st, and one of Vey/Toffoli/Forbort, which is a crazy high price, you have to at least THINK about the alternative of Hemsky knowing that you could get him AND be able to keep Jack Johnson, your prospects, and may even only give up a 2nd with Bernier.
