Andrei Kostitsyn's Future: Is it in Montreal?

Okay, let's come down to the essential question on Andrei Kostitsyn. Will he stay or is he done here?

Do you really think he wants to come back? Why not test the free agent market.

He has said a couple of times that he wants to stay in Montreal. I think it's more gonna come down to if the front office wants to keep him or not.

At one point I really thought he had a future in Montreal but I have my doubts. I think he might have a lot more success in another city. Wherever he plays, I wish him the best. He seems like a genuinely good guy.

Only if we can replace him with someone better. Any suggestions?

There are plenty of 15 goals scorer that will cost a lot less then AK and have more heart and that wont always be subject to benching...

He has good chemistry with Eller, why he's not playing with him I don't know. Some are put in a position to exceed others to fail and some can score but don't see PP time.
I wouldn't mind keeping him for the right price

My head says if we lose one of the next 3 games he's going to be traded, but my heart's saying he'll sign back here as a UFA come July 1st (Highly unlikely, but I'd love to see it happen)

I asked for suggestions... not a general statement. Give us something specific. And just to help you brush up on your math, AK is on a pace that would result in 21 goals over 82 games, with very little PP time. That is a long, long way from 15 goals.

There aren't a lot of players that are said to be lazy players and play a lot of 4th line minutes like Andrei (3rd liner mostly) that are still able to shoot 20 in constantly. I say keep him, 'cause I gotta feeling we'll regret it, he will go shine somewhere. PG should think about it twice before letting him go or trading him.

Well if you want to look from the inside, Louis Leblanc this year and Brendan Gallagher next year.

With the ice time AK is given (3rd and sometimes 4th line minutes with occasional benching and almost no PP time), both Louis Leblanc AND Brendan Gallagher will not stack up the stats Andrei puts up.

They might be potential 15 goal scorers but that isn't what you said. You said there are plenty of 15 goals scorers implying that they have done it consistently in the past. (it should actually be 20 goals if you want to replace AK's production)

You are making an argument and then not even following it up with a suggestion that follows the point you are trying to make

Did you read that somewhere because I haven't seen an original idea in one of your posts yet.

Also, do not forget that even if AK looks lazy often on the ice, he is said to be one of the most popular guys if not the most popular guy in the room, so he's not a bad influence or a distraction or anything.

Hopefully he's gone. Has talent but is a passenger for wayyyyyyy too many. Bring back some assets and forget about the Belarussian Brothers and their mob ties.

Over 82 GP, he's on pace for over 20 goals. Just sayin'

Anyway, you're absolutely right, AK leaves a lot to be desired but by same token, it's ridiculous to call him a bad player because he hasn't reached his potential or could do more. He's still a good player.
