I am willing to give him a shot. Maybe let him get a couple more games under his belt to get his conditioning back before bringing him up. I don't see any other goalies hitting the market. And Salak has been successful in every other league he has played in.

These soft goals every flipping game are just deflating this team. Because the softies have little to do with the defense.

During the losing streak, we have outshot opponents at even strength by an average of 32-23 and outchanced them as well. But at even strengh, our save percentage is 86% while opponents goalies are 93.8%. Keep telling yourself it's the D.

Agree. The team needs to play tight for 60 minutes. Just once. That would be a start. The hats and rabbits approach won't work.

How does a forum user who actually watches most of the games , pull up blind stats that only tell half the story?

This team has very real defensive issues from scheme to personnel to coaching. If you want to form opinions based off of NHL.com despitr actually watching games then so be it. You are, however, very wrong.

Salak isn't going to help this mess, not one bit.

I hope i'm wrong, but I doubt it.

He's basically right, though. Every team has defensive issues to some extent, that's why they have goaltenders.

May was well find out, right? This is why we traded for the guy and signed him to a two year deal, so we have him for times like these when we need someone.

Yeah!
Team does not trust the goalies, they suck and are our biggest problem. It's easy to see it. Just because we have other problems doesn't change anything about our awful goaltending

NSH has the best pairing in the world and a solid supporting cast, but no Rinne no Win

We are in a 9-game losing streak. We have been losing with Emery and CC, both of whom have been sieves.

Playing Salak is a no-lose proposition.

Salak can't possibly play any worse than those two scrubs we have in net right now and even if he does.... we've already been losing with Emery/CC..... so if Salak gets lit up.... the result is the same.... a loss is a loss.

Salak has talent. There's no harm in giving him a shot at proving he's better. Let's face it.... won't take much to punch in a better goaltending performance than Emery/CC.

Pro goalie scout, Justin Goldman tweets:

"You don't "find" elite goalies, you create them by opening doors. Upgrade in goal is right under Hawks nose. Don't forget Salak's preseason."

The only reason I can see them not bringing up Salak is that he might be involved in a trade team brass is cooking up.

the only reason why the don't bring up Salak is because he isn't at 100% and needs 3-5 more starts to get his game legs back. I'm confident that Bowman brings in a new goalie at the TD

It would like like a desperation move to be sure but at this point it IS a desperation point!

Salak stops 12 of 13 in a 1-0 loss to Peoria. Save % now up to .905, GAA at 2.60.

fine he does well. Let him finish the year in Rockford, and get a goalie like Miller or Vokoun for this year. I'd be fine with Miller/Vokoun & Salak for next year

I'd be very, very happy with a Vokoun/Salak tandem.

Salak hasn't shown squat, except getting injured.

Since getting over the injuries and coming back, he is 54 of 56 in saves. That's squat?

and more importantly, its not like he could really be much worse than what we've seen the past month.

And Kruger was a prodigy in the SEL and hasn't shown much in the NHL. SEL does not equal the NHL
