That's a massive overpayment.

We have a solid top 4 with Salvador, Greene, Volchenkov, Fayne (insert Larsson here when healthy). As long as he is given a role straight away and plays within it, like the previously mentioned ~15mins a night.

Just don't be worse than Foster, which ironically means scoring at least 3 goals lol

I also meant to ask, did Zidlicky waive the clause just for NJ or are we among the teams? For now I'm assuming just NJ

To be totally honest, I've been saying that Tedenby would be traded for quite some time. I think I actually guaranteed it once, much to my chagrin.

Well....yeah.

But to get rid of those two means tossing something major into the heap. a 1st or 2nd round pick or JJ.

And at that, you'd be trading someone for a chance to sign Suter.

That would be a bad move, Zidlicky is not having a good season at all.

He's a 40+ point d-man, year in and year out. A nice piece.

Would the Wild want either/both of them?

What's worse than Foster? Foster without a stick.
An extra 3M and a year on his contract, potentially.

Perhaps, but do either have a future on this team at this point?

Zidlicky may be 35 but he's not on a +35 contract so although he's gonna get paid he's not guaranteed a spot in the future

Tedenby and Urbom? I would't trade either straight up for him. A 3rd and a prospect or a 3rd is enough.

He has value, but I wouldn't trade Urbom + Tedenby for him..

And someone mentioned throwing in Josefson to Palmieri + Taormina or something.

I wouldn't trade Josefson straight up for Zidlicky...

Overpayments..

That's arguable one way or another, but it would still be terrible asset management.

Maybe. Maybe not. When they get better we can trade them for something better or trade the veteran the replace.

But we have an internal cap that supposedly means that NHL GMs will complain if we are allowed to bring anyone in

Oh Everson.. This one really bit you in the ass pretty quickly.

FWIW, I'm not the biggest fan of this. He'd be another relatively highly paid mid par D man. That's not what the team needs. They need a top pairing guy. If that's not available, stand pat.

Now if he were an impending UFA it'd be a different story.

Ok stats but I think he's underperformed this season, in comparison to what he's capable of. I would know cause he's on my fantasy team. But good point, mentioning the Flyers caught my eye. Although I still see Homer aiming for Nashville.

This could be good or bad for the Devils. A change of scenary may be a pick-me-up for Zidlicky.

If the end result is worth it, would it still be terrible asset management?

What else are we going to get for Urbom/Tedenby? Furthermore, would either of them on the Wild - or any team for that matter - come back to haunt the Devils later? Probably not.

Perhaps. Both playing in the minors right now because they're not quite ready yet. Could be some spots open for them next year or the year after.
