Especially after featuring that graphic on his blog I can imagine Wysh is nervous (Devils are his team) about what Lou would give up for Zid.

Still think it would be a rather large mistake to move Zidlicky...

Like this? I've always been a realist.

Minnesota has plenty of great things going for it but the play and handling of veterans is not one of them. They have built up one of the great prospect pools in the league through excellent scouting (without tanking mind you!). That will help the Wild in the long-term, giving them at the very least assets, but in the short-term the Havlats, the Barkers, the Zidlickys, even guys like Staubitz are the norm rather than the exception. All of those guys were Fletcher decisions and somewhere between him and Richards/Yeo they have not lived up to expectations.

So throw in that and many of the fans/media going all-in on Parise like it's a given and it raises a few red flags.

It seems that Zids wants to be traded really bad, his agent is saying I'll waive to go to NJD, and the Wild may not like that. I'm sure they are upset with him saying that because there isn't a deal worked out yet. I bet that we do end up trading him before the deadline, I don't see the point on waiting until the summer (unless Fletch thinks the value goes up, but I disagree). I think we can get the most value for him now.

value might go up before the deadline but he could get hurt, it all depends on what the offer is, it could be a situation where other teams are offering more then NJD and GMCF is playing "i don't have to move him" to get him to accept a wider variety of teams

I am seriously about to flip my **** here. You mean to tell me all this time that this whole story was just Zid's agent talking **** to the media, and Fletch has not been on the phone this whole morning trying to ship his ass off?

Sure, he's a good player, but he somehow makes this team WORSE not better by being in the lineup. I dont get how, or why, but our records both with and without him speak for themselves.

I'm gonna lose it. I'm gonna lose it man....

They need to get this joker out as soon as possible. Does it make the team worse on paper? Of course. But it's clear he is a big part of the problem.

Sounds like negotiating ploys abound. If Zid's announcement is truly unprovoked, it reduces some of Fletcher's leverage, so he probably wants to make GMLL call him to gain a little bit more push in negotiations.

Fletcher: I haven’t asked Zid to waive his no-trade for any specific trade

Yeah it's all about the negotiating game I'm sure. There's too much smoke here to not have a fire. I bet we get a pick and a prospect for him.

Well it's fairly clear Zidlicky is not working with the Wild for any of his press stunts.

I'm guessing the Wild gave his agent the okay to find a trade partner, Lou said he'd take him, might have lowballed Fletch, and Fletch is now trying to drive up the price.

I think this is the only reason Zidlicky is still wearing a Wild uniform. Any sane GM or coach pushing for the playoffs would balk once they see that, IMO.

Hmmm...interesting point you bring up in the trade forum squidz, there must be another team that wants in on Zids, specifically Chicago is mentioned in the blog, and it seems that Zids wants to go to NJD. He wants out, I don't see any good reason for keeping him to be honest, get rid of him.

As I mentioned in the trade board thread, Fletcher has some ridiculously specific language. Why say "any specific trade" rather than "any specific team" unless the latter's not true?

But yeah, sounds like a situation where (theory here) GMLL offered Taormina + late pick but Fletch wants Gelinas. As long as other possibilities are out there like Chicago, he can try cajole a bit more out of the deal. I'd love to see us get Gelinas somehow, though Taormina early pick might satisfy me.

Considering Chicago's blue line issues, I can't imagine us getting a legitimate defenseman back from them unless we somehow rob them and steal a quality prospect. Chicago's a team that has frequently put John Scott on the ice.

Fletch is doing the right thing. Negotiations 101. You never say "well that's our only option". Lie through your teeth.

Pretty much.

Fletcher is simply reminding everyone that he doesn't have to do anything right now and that he still has plenty of leverage at the moment.

Sounds to me like Zid is trying to shop himself now. Even if he has a good game or two.....it's too late to turn back. Lockerroom will be even more uncomfortable after today. You've got to move him for that alone.

If New Jersey's not concerned about the financial implications of Zidlicky's contract they're arguably the best fit out there for Zidlicky. Obviously he'd waive to go there. Obviously GMLL would love to add a player of Zidlicky's caliber, I mean they traded for Kurtis Foster to ice him on a regular basis.... Just the trade value and financial implications of Zidlicky's contract concern me there.

I say don't trade him, don't initiate negotiations with NJ, and keep sitting him if he stops trying on ice. Fletcher has plenty of leverage. If you sit him long enough, he'll waive his NTC just to be out of here.

However, at this point, Havlat is looking like a saint.
