LOL who said he's the next MJ LMAO man they don't even play the same position...I've heard comparisons of Nash and Stockton these guys are generational talents one's in the HOF the other will be very soon. I have no problem with him I'm actually a fan of his but dear God will you please stop comparing him to those guys. Lin just went head to head against one of the leagues premiere pgs and if I'm him I'm watching a ton of film right now to see what Williams was doing right and wrong and comparing it to what I did right and wrong and working on it.

There's nothing wrong with some of the well deserved acclaim and hype he's gotten and I agree with posters that Mike D'Antoni's system doesn't allow for defensive numbers to shine as much, but some people are over doing it.

And Jay's fanatic I will somewhat agree with the race thing but we could do the flip side here and talk about the reports that he was overlooked due to his race as well it works both ways in that regard.

Let's not forget the fact that there's no D in D'Antoni's system. The fact that he's held up so well is a testament to how decent he actually is defensively. And he turns it over so much because he's holding the ball 90% of the time. So let's not ready too much into that stat.

I'd like to see who called him the next Michael Jordan.

I have a hard time believing anyone is that ignorant.

agreed. But I did hear the Stockton/Nash comparison soundbyte. And that is asinine.

Someone posted this on another board... and I agree 100%

Quote:
There is more to his story than that. After receiving no athletic scholarship offers out of high school, he elected to go to Harvard. Then Lin went undrafted out of college, signed a partially guaranteed contract deal later that year with his hometown Golden State Warriors.

Lin seldom played in his rookie season and was assigned to the National Basketball Development League (D-League) three times. He was waived by Golden State and the Houston Rockets the following preseason before joining the Knicks early in the 2011–12 season. He was again assigned to the D-League and continued to play sparingly. Then do to injuries, he got his chance to start in February and has performed at an Elite PG level.

Compare his stats over the last 10 games with the top PGs.
Lin-24.8 PPG 9.2 APG
Williams-26.9 PPG 7 APG
Rose-18.2 PPG 7.6 APG
Paul-17.9 PPG 7.8 APG
Nash-13.3 PPG 13.6 APG
Rondo-14.4 PPG 9.8 APG

Those numbers would be meaningless if the Knicks were not winning those games. However, the teams he has played against only had an overall 38% winning record. It's still to early to tell if he can do this on a consistent basis & against the better teams in the NBA. And remember that because of the shortened season & condensed schedule, there are very few practices to prepare for teams.

The hype Lin is receiving is the same hype all hot young players that perform get. And because he is doing this in NYC (media capital of the world), that is why he is getting the "Tebow" treatment.

There is a really good video on ESPN's website right now about Thomas Robinson. Shows his perseverance through the death of his mother and both his grandparents in the span of 25 days.

Really inspiring, and good fro him for playing his heart out there. He is eligible for the upcoming draft and is likely lottery bound. I do have a soft spot for the guy now

Stockton was masterful and one of my favourite players ever. Who ever put Lin in the same class is clueless. I do like what Lin is doing though, and can't hate him for playing the game he loves for a living. I want to see him keep up this pace for the rest of the season and into next year after teams find out how to guard him.

I was @ the game tonight, bigger crowd then I expected. The Gray MVP chant was definitely the highlight of the night. Loved it, poor guy missed both freethrows as the chants were going up though, we must have throttled his confidence

Same. Game was crazy entertaining (because the Raptors were winning).

I legitimately facepalm'd myself when the Gray chants started; so funny that I was chirping him all game to my brother, and he winds up with a double-double. 15 assists for Jose is NUTS (helps his trade value ) and I've heard whisperings that Wilson Chandler is considering Toronto.. which would be ecstatic news to me.

Btw..Greg Monroe is ABSOLUTELY FILTHY. He was CRAZY dominant tonight (although Raptors played awful in the paint; no post presence at all). He's gonna be a star one day. Brandon Knight also made me regret passing him over for a second..but I got over it soon after.

Wilson Chandler's list of possible destinations now extends beyond his former team in Denver, his agent, Chris Luchey, told SI.com.

Chandler, the five-year veteran and restricted free agent small forward who played in China during the lockout, visited Toronto on Tuesday and is considering joining the Raptors.

Would be a solid player for the Raps but then ehat happens to drafting Barnes?

BPA is the way to go anyway.

Wilson Chandler would be a beastly acquisition. Him and JJ would make a great combo on the defensive side of the ball with Wilson able to put up lots of points.

I wouldn't worry about the draft yet.. if we take a PF, I wouldn't be mad - since we could move one of Davis or Amir for upgrades elsewhere (perhaps a PG for the future?).

Really doubt we'd be able to move Amir, and I wouldn't want to trade Davis..

Great game tonight. Let's see if Wade can guard Lin! And will Lebron show Carmelo who's the boss? Is today the day Bosh finally proves he's better than Amar'e?
