I doubt anyone is that foolish. They've learned from Buffalo & Leino. At BEST, PA is a 3.5 million/year player. No one wants to gamble.

Back to wants; defense defense and more defense. Preferably with a contract that goes beyond this year. Don't know how receptive Pens are to a Martin for Parenteau+ swap.

I can tell you that some Penguins' fans would love that deal. Personally, I was thinking that a deal around Matt Niskanen and Parenteau might be more beneficial. Niskanen is younger, a RFA this season, making 1.75 million or so. He is a puck moving defenseman who has played well since coming to Pittsburgh. I believe that some maneuvering would have to be done to make it work, but I think that the deal is a good basis. (Note: I do not want to lose Niskanen, but I thought that it would be more realistic.)

Played the last 20 or so games off Tavares line, put up 16 points in that span. Only plays with Tavares on PP

Hes this years Leino IMO
Except Leino had one good year, Parenteau has put together two solid seasons showing decent skills, instead of one flash-in-the-pan year looking for a payday.

He'd be a great fit on the Panthers. How would Ellerby and a pick sound?

Ellerby is exactly what the Islanders would be looking for in return. I'd do it from an Isles perspective straight up.

How about Martin to the Islanders for Parenteau and Eaton?

no interest in a player who turned long island down as a free agent.

I think PA is a good player, but I believe it is Tavares who has really made him shine.

Martin won't accept a deal to a team that offered him more money as a UFA than the Penguins, so that's off the table.

I really have no interest in Parenteau anyway.

I can see Eaton going back to the Pens for a 4th rounder or 2nd rate prospect - not much else.

I don't think the Isles will make any moves at the deadline. My gut tells me Nabokov and Parenteau will be kept for the playoff run (if they're close) and try and re-sign them before July.

The players that will likely be moved will barely make it to twitter. Eaton being the one that might see a tweet.

If Rolston, Pandolfo, Mottau, Jurcina, Staios, are moved, it'll be for nothing (or less than nothing) in return

My opinion. Trade him.

I like him, don't love him. Also don't view his as anything near irreplaceable.

Would love for the Isles to move him netting a significant return and then resign him as a UFA.

Isles need these types of things to happen to help expedite the re-build.

We are...but there's just a log jam trying to crack the line up. DB puts him on the 4th line when most people believe he's earned a better shot.

So...its not that he's bad...he's actually quite good...but he's trade bait. Plus him and Strait will come cheap for the Islanders. They won't have to take on a big PAP contract.
