#Oilers Taylor Fedun (leg) and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (shoulder) both skating in full gear at Rexall prior to the team's morning practice
Hard to imagine that at the start of the season, many of us were thinking that we'd be fortunate if he was skating by the start of next season, but here we are mid-February and Fedun is skating about in full gear. Although I'm sure he's still a ways away from returning, do you suppose he gets a game in later in the season? Maybe he gets assigned to OKC and plays a bit in the playoffs?

Whether he plays or not, he's a great story.
Pulling for this kid. Honestly was far more impressed with him at TC than Potter.

I could understand the Oilers keeping him out for the season, but to say he doesn't play this year doesn't make sense.
I mean he's skating, one would assume that's the biggest step on the road to recovery from a broken leg.
exactly. Considering his femur was just obliterated in that fall, the fact that he can put his entire body mass plus full gear on it this soon after his injury is nothing short of spectacular.
The issue now becomes if he can fall/get checked without re-injuring his leg. I doubt this will affect his stick work at all, but may hinder his speed. For Fedun's role however, speed and shooting are probably not all that important (compared to someone like RNH, for example).
Long article in journal today re Fedun. It doesnt look like he'll be playing anytime soon. The guys will have a rod in his leg for the rest of his life.
With the work he has been putting in he will make it to NHL one day but putting deadlines and dangling Masterdon trophy is unfair to the kid.
Hope to see him play some hockey next season starting in either the AHL or ECHL. Playing hockey anywhere should be considered a major victory after that injury.
It's borderline miraculous that he's already skating in full gear only 6 months after shattering his femur, just incredible. That really speaks to the determination and work ethic that this kid has. What an inspiration he is.
Hopefully he'll be ready in Training Camp and ready to fight for an NHL roster spot.
