To Washington: Patrick Kane, Michael Frolik, R. Emery, 2012 1st round pick
To Chicago: Nicklas Bäckström, Dennis Wideman, Tomas Vokoun
Alexander Semin not really that interesting but if you wanted to throw him in the deal he probably is worth Bickell or Kruger perhaps even both. maybe? Who ever gets Semin loses him to free agency.
No doubt!!!! Wideman & Vokoun what are you going to get for them... sign them if they have value... they are on the last year of their deals... So lets not act like FA are guys under contract.
I imagine they'd want a 1st for Vokoun. Don't know what the goaltending market is like for CHI's alternatives (Nabokov?) but to me they scream motivated buyer and GMGM is good at getting value.
That's assuming they have any desire at all to trade Vokoun, which they probably don't. Yet, at least.
A proposal with Vokoun isn't a shakeup trade. It's a buyer/seller trade. The Caps aren't sure whether they're a buyer or seller yet. They go o'fer the weekend in Florida and they'll be that much closer to being a seller, and Vokoun could hit the trade market. They come out with 3/4 points, and they may be buyers. Toss up. I'm still unsure as to whether the Caps want to re-sign him, for that matter. They certainly have seen nothing from Neuvirth or Holtby this year to suggest Vokoun isn't needed.
backstrom's defense needs work? this is a 4 on 3 penalty kill. if backstrom's defense needs work he would not be on the ice.
here backstrom turns over the puck. he makes a defensive takeaway to get it back. then he skates the puck
down, takes a huge hit and scores the winner. btw...thats seabrooke and keith that be burns for the win and thats
buff that hits him.
Washington understands his untouchable status and that he's better than Backstrom. I don't believe anyone asked for Toews. We know we couldn't acquire him.

Now Sharp...
I love Sharpie, and never want to see him traded (also, I highly doubt he ever will be traded)
But if you're saying we can do something with Sharp and Backstrom as the biggest pieces...
I'd take that deal, marry it in Vegas, and have little Stanley Cup babies with it.
There is no Backstrom deal at all, and anyone suggesting the possibility is just wasting people's time. I frankly think it's more likely the Caps trade Ovechkin, and that's awfully remote in its own right.
I mean Backstrom isn't Crosby his defense needs work.
What else would you need?
Backstrom is one of the best two way centers in the game. I thought this was common knowledge. He's pretty much a lock to win a Selke at some point in his career, and I wouldn't trade him straight up for any player on the Hawks. That includes Toews.
