The fact that this is the first time he's ever missed weight makes me nervous that he might be hiding a somewhat serious injury though. I was debating whether or not I should switch my pick to Bader but what the heck, I'll stick with Rampage.

Yeah I'm sticking with him too but he looked pretty bad at the weigh in. Just the way he walked in and moved around. He said he had an injury in camp and then he tried really hard to make weight but just couldn't do it.

I hope he can stop Bader early because he might gas out pretty quickly.

Rampage first stated that he wouldn't disclose what the injury was to not give Bader and advantage then later on he stated something along the lines of "being overweight because he couldn't run a lot" or something. Based on that I would assume lower body, but could be back too.

To me it seems that Rampage's injury has to be somewhat severe for him to not be able to make weight but Rampage doesn't want to disappoint the Japanese fans. Ariel Helwani did a 45 minute interview with Rampage walking around Japan and you can just tell Rampage loves Japan and their people. He was even asked if he's considered moving there and he said he had because his 2 youngest kids love it there and he's a big star there and everyone treats him well. I really hope the injury isn't to the point where its going to hurt him come fight time but I have a bad feeling it will.

I say his chances are slim to none and if it wasn't for the fluky punch to the careless face of the ground novice constant choke victim his last fight, he would not even have been here.
So Florian is a low level guy? I'd argue he was more dangerous in his prime than Pettis is right now. Lauzon was tossing him around in the 1st round before he wore himself out.

This is an awesome card. I really can't tell if it's just stacked, or if I am just becomming more of a fan and recognizing more fighters. Off the main card the only fight I don't recognize is the Featherweight bout. I can also admit I am enjoying the fights more as of late as well.

Lightweight Championship bout: Frankie Edgar (c) vs. Benson Henderson
Light Heavyweight bout: Quinton "Rampage" Jackson vs. Ryan Bader
Heavyweight bout: Mark Hunt vs. Cheick Kongo

This is such a weird atmosphere.. it's not the quiet crowds from Pride, but it's not as loud as North America. Just seems like we're watching a fight in small town Kentucky.

You do realize there's no way everyone showed up already right?

Usually the prelims have almost no one in the stands.

Hahaha damn, that was nasty. Did anyone pick Tamura?

e: Only Jonathan... damn honestly I've never been really high on Zhang but I knew absolutely nothing and Tamura was a late replacement so I figured it was a safe pick.

I picked him. Tamura's out of Krazy Bee and Zhang can only beat guys like Jason Reinhardt, so I think it may have been the easiest pick on the entire card. Yet no one else picked him.

Granted, I figured he'd just wrestle Zhang to a decision win.

The poor seats are probably filled. The rich people with cageside seats are always the ones that show up later. Crowd probably is solid.

Yeah I think Zhang still has some cachet due to his fairly impressive WEC debut win over Garza (who then went on to crush the next two guys he fought), but it's looking more and more like that was a little fluky.

He's really a one-trick pony (guillotine). When that doesn't work he just has no idea what to do.

You'd figure it would be the Japanese guys getting gift decisions but I guess not.

Maybe they checked Fight Finder before the fight and didn't want to break Mizugaki's cool one-win-one-loss streak

I thought Mizugaki probably won, but I don't think its crazy to think Cariaso won. He was the cleaner striker and Mizugaki did nothing with his takedowns.

Should be a tidy 29-28 Fukuda, winning rounds 2 and 3.
