I would love to see nofx and bad religion live. I. Never have

It's a different type of music and not all EDM producers are able to put on live shows because they can't perform live.

What makes a live show good is not just the song itself but the overall performance and yes it is a Performance.

If this is not a live performance, I don't know what is.
Yeah I just don't agree at all. If they want to start this whole EDM thing, start an EDM festival. But this "music" shouldn't be mixed in with a blues festival. At least rock has it's roots in blues. This is a very disturbing trend to me.

This is not the future of music. I hardly consider this music to be quite honest. But hey that's just my opinion. If I want to see a concert, I want to see a band playing their butts off, not a dude with computers.

Anyway, I feel it's really not the right festival for this kind of music. At all. The fact that this dude is taking the spot off a possibly good band, kinda pisses me off. Oh well. Let's say I'll likely be giving away my ticket for opening night.

There's actually Ottawa's biggest EDM festival a couple of days just before Bluesfest. I agree that Bluesfest might not be the best place for EDM though. I wasn't arguing with that but rather people saying it's crap music or isn't even music.

They should probably just change the name of the festival. I don't mind it being eclectic.

Ottawa EclecticFest!

It's a brand at this point, not a reflection of what the festival is for. Personally, I don't mind the new direction. It brings a lot of bands I don't care for, but also a few that I really like that wouldn't be at a true Blues festival.

I agree with this completely, allthough i do enjoy electronic music from time to time theres not a chance i would ever go see a performance? live....i prefer to see actual musicians play their insturments rather than a guy with maybe some dancers and lights working a computer and tables!

I have no problem with EDM being at Bluesfest (I haven't really given it chance in all honesty), but what does one do at an EDM concert?

You can't exactly sing along, and if you are sitting you can't exactly dance...

There will be an electronica/dance stage at Bluesfest. This year will be a test run, and such stages have been used at other festivals (including Bonnaroo). This EDM stage will be where the "Black Sheep Stage" use to be. I have an excellent source on this, and that's all I can say.

That seems fair to me. This will be the first year in the last 3 that I will have more than 3 days off between July and August, so I am PUMPED for Bluesfest this year.

Some of the bigger acts may be on the main stages, but most EDM performers will be on the smaller stage in the back. This is an attempt by Bluefest organizers to reach a broader audience.

Been a fan of Edm since the early 90's and I gotta say those acts are pure cheeze, Tiesto, Skrillex etc are like the Nickleback of EDM in there genres.

I'm also in the boat that Bluesfest should be just that, A Blues festival, or even just keep to bands who predominately play instruments. Keep the Edm in the Edm festivals/clubs, trying to branch out to other audiences only dilutes the quality of music and you end up with a rumored lineup like this year.

hehe...I'm so jaded

They really should just change the name to the Capital City Musicfest or something like that.

Obviously Bluesfest is the name everyone knows it by (which is likely why they havn't changed it yet), but it really doesn't suit the festival any longer.
