Dan Girardi Appreciation Thread

Couldn't find a relevent thread to bump. Mods move to ASG thread if need be.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news;_yl..._rangers012812

But this was a great write up about Dan Girardi from Yahoo.

This guy has been a rock for us this year, and it is awesome to see him get the ASG nod as a shutdown defensemen.

Leads the league in TOI, and is one of the main reasons for the success of the NYR this year. Keep it up Dan Girardi.

The same way I describe Cally, Dan Girardi just embodies the perfect hockey player. These are the guys I will be telling my grandkids about decades from now.

Yep--Callahan, Girardi, Lundqvist...hopefully Stepan and McDonagh.

Some of us underestimate just how special some of these players are.

Exactly. My brother asked me today: "If Callahan wasn't on the team, who would you want to be captain?" I said Girardi, because he's like having a Cally on defense. Dan's the man. Definitely deserving of all the praise coming his way.

Nothing short of amazing.

The guy has been great and it's unbelievable how he went undrafted.

Amazing given that this guy is one of the main reasons why the London Knights defeated Crosby's Rimourski squad for the Memorial Cup and the most he could get out of juniors was a two-way AHL contract.

Minutes-eating D-men like Girardi finally get respect this year.

With all due respect to Marc Staal, I believe that Girardi should have kept or become an away-game alternate captain even after Staal returned.

Slightly positive he played that entire playoffs with a broken hand.

I said earlier that I was so proud of an undrafted Ranger player to be announced "leads the NHL in ice time" & "1st time All Star". My bud said. "you sound like a proud Dad"

I am proud... Of all 4, but hard work is why G is here. U don't see a lot of that ordinarily, unfortunately. Something this country is built on.

Dan Girardi would block Chara's 108.8 without equipment, stick his chest out, and yell "THANK YOU SIR MAY I HAVE ANOTHER!!!"

If we don't draft Landon Girardi in the 2028 draft we have failed as an organization.

It certainly helps my bias that my favorite play in the sport of hockey is the blocked shot. As someone who played goalie as a kid, and just as someone who loves the game and loves the Rangers, nothing makes me prouder to see a skater take one of the team. The ultimate sacrifice in the sport.

So yea. I ****ing love Danny G.

Danny must've done some training in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber (too nerdy a reference?) last summer because it's ridiculous how good he is this year. Unfathomable that he came out and is playing like he has.

He got a goal (well technically an assist but it was his) in the ASG! He's just awesome.
