I hope Murray is trolling, because that makes no sense whatsoever.

Bob obviously learned nothing from the Sbisa/Beauchemin fiasco.

Bob Murray is terrible. We should trade him for picks

I'm about as big a believer in Vatanen that there is, but that's just a stupid thought process. If Vatanen is good enough to supplant Visnovsky, he can earn it.

I'm guessing Murray wants to sign one of the top UFA's (defensemen), and if he manages to do that, there wouldn't be a spot for Vatanen with the big club if Lubo was still around.

Plan should be:

Beauchemin - Fowler
Sbisa/Lydman - UFA
Lydman/Sbisa - Vatanen
Guenin

If that's true, then Bob is doubling down. At least Sbisa had played an NHL game.

I thought they could've atleast traded Visnovsky for something usable like bag of pucks or Gretzkys signed hockey stick... But for a freakin second round pick? Thats total gamble, you may get nothing out of it.

Vatanen IS good, but how can you know he gets it going right away? They shouldve kept Visno, hope there isnt too much pressure on Vatanen now.

But if it works out, it atleast leaved lots of room for some signing. If Vatanen-gamle goes great, and he is very very good in NHL too right away, maybe they can get some good forward signed during season.

Visnovsky would have been good mentor for Vatanen.

probably the best D-man the (finnish) league has seen... Skates like paul coffey, shoots better than Selanne (thought teemu just nets it, without having to shoot that hard but anyway). But you never know how things turn out, but I sure as hell hope that things go fine and he gets the confidence needed to play like he can. But in NHL you have better players against you, and much less room where to skate, so he cant probably play every game paul coffey style there.

In WC 2010 he showed that he definately isn't lost out there when he doesn't go gung ho offense He played some wicked D to give his pairing mate room offensively. He seemed extremely mature then already and showed some leadership by doing what was needed in front of the net and in defense generally..

First post ever, native Finnish, partying three of days in a row, so sorry for crappy typing.

As a JYP season ticket holder I might know something about Sami. First of all he's more of a rap guy than a guy.

In my opinion, there's no doubt that Sami isn't going to make it. Although he is pretty shy, doesn't speak that much English, and even giving interviews in Finnish he usually says couple lines and that's it.
But when he goes on ice, that's when it's happening. I haven't ever seen such a dominating defenseman in Finnish elite league. Sami is so fast and skilled that you have to play rough on him, he gains couple PP:s per game and usually he executes on those.

Ryan Lasch tweeted about Sami few days ago:

My boi Super Sam does it again! This guy is the real deal. If he keeps playing like this ill be buying dinner all week. ‪#uncle‬

Teammates in JYP started calling Sami "Super" when they realized that this boy is too good for the Finnish league.

So I'm pretty sure that you guys are gonna enjoy our boy Sam and I'm going to as well when I get a change to fly there, go to the Honda Center and see him killing it And if not, im gonna buy a beer at Honda Center to the first one who doubt's about this.

That Ryan Lasch tweet was about their golf game.

Maybe the scouting staff went and watched Vatanen and they thought he was ready? even then it's not as if they said he was going to play immmediately, so relax

Suter/Sbisa
Fowler/Beauch
Vatanen/Lydman
Guenin

Book it!

Lets not "book" signing a top 5 defender in the NHL in UFA please.

So Sami is already getting to know the golf courses in California. I wouldn't start my NA career that way

So the rookie camp is close or?

Oh man... I already miss that guy since I'm pretty certain we won't be seeing him in JYP for a pretty long time... Whenever he was on the ice it seemed that anything could happen.

Although I have no ties to Anaheim I'm gonna start watching some Ducks games now (yes, I do believe he can make it in the NHL). And btw, he has said in many interviews how much he admires Teemu, and even though Sami is a d-man Teemu has always been his idol. So I guess there couldn't be a better team for him to play with than the Ducks!

Lindholm said he is waiting for his equipment to come to Cali in next week, so i believe the camp is already starting next week.
