Twinkies are too healthy... must deep fry.

Then cover with more sugar and chocolate syrup.

A friend and I had that running joke where we took unhealthy things to eat, and keep one-up-ing that by frying it, covering it with sugar, chocolate, whatever. Seeing that, I finally realize we had no idea how close to reality we were...

Running joke?!?!?! That's the very definition of a county fair!

I usually one-up unhealthy foods by adding cheese and bacon to it.

I haven't been playing that game in a long time, but yeah, those two ingredients have always been frontrunners in there...

I knew there was something missing. Just add cheese & bacon to Sami Vatanen and you've got yourself the real deal.

Vatanen has some Erik Karlsson-esque flow going on right now.

They look kind of similar, don't they?

Just a coincidence? I don't think so!

His flow looks at a lot greasier, though, to take us back to the theme we had going there...

I have never understood how he is considered a top prospect for us. He lacks the size to surivive in the NHL. I bet he'll have a great career in Europe though!

It will be hard for Vatanen, he may have a chance for the 3rd pairing but it's Brookbank's to lose [if he stays]

Yeah it's not like players like Visnovsky have had good NHL careers or anything.

Not all NHL players have to be 7 feet tall to become good NHL players.

He's just as big as Kimmo Timonen, Lubomir Visnovsky and Erik Karlsson. Plus-minus a few pounds. They have been doing quite all right...

Let us not also forget that Vatanen has played against men for the last three seasons now.

Lubo is like 10 kg (20 lbs?) heavier than Vatanen. But hey, if he can prove me wrong I am okay with it. I am just not counting on him at all. I doubt playing Euro-hockey helped him preparing for the NHL. He'll probably need 3 years in the AHL as well.

BTW do we know if Vatanen has interest in playing for the Ducks? Or are we looking at another Justin Schultz fiasco?

Vatanen is 5 kg lighter, and is slightly taller then Lubo. Vatanen is only 20 years old, plenty of time to make up that 5 kg difference IF he has to.

And pretty sure Vatanen said he was coming over once his military duty was done or was interested to. Sure some of the Finnish posters here can confirm it or correct it.

I'm pretty sure he'll be over next season. Can't be bothered checking but I think that was the case when he signed his ELC.

At the very worst he should crack the NHL as a third pairing PP QB. At best he could be a top pairing PMD. I doubt he's ever as good as Timonen or Visnovsky though, that's a pretty tall ask.

It's a tricky question. Obviously it's not the same to play in the NHL, that's why all I can say right now is that I just have never seen any Finnish d-man dominate the FEL as Sami has done in the last three years. Sami is too good for this league. He's not a big guy, true, but he can take the hits and play physical too (ask Jarkko Ruutu for example).

We'll just have to see how it goes. Still I'm pretty confident that he can make it in the NHL.

As I wrote earlier, add cheese & bacon: there you have your 5 kilos.

Well, I am considering him a bigger talent than Granlund and many finns feel alike. He is really good skater with a good slapshot and good offence game.
