i remember feeling about 10 seconds of sadness that we traded Hubie... and then there was that awesome feeling that my childhood team was finally getting something right. and he delivered in his big, inimitable way. from opening day, to his single, to his last rbi, a kid among men.

In Montreal they did this: http://www.metsblog.com/2012/02/19/t...#disqus_thread

In MSG (at least for the Knicks game, not sure about the Rags), they made mention of Carter on the scoreboard which drew a nice ovation.

On Long Island, they did zilch. Why am I not surprised?

Also, if I'm not mistaken, they did nothing to recognize Josef Vasicek, Alexander Karpotsev, or Brad McCrimmon, either. Most teams who had any of the deceased Lokomotiv play for them at any point, have some sort of badge on their uniform. If the Islanders have anything, it's very well hidden. This is far from a first class organization for reasons like this.

The Habs really did it up... Hats off to them for a very classy night. The number 8 Carter Jerseys with the ice lit up like that was awesome.

Great point, I thought the Isles should have had a patch. Wouldn't surprise me if they're the one team in the league with a connection to those players that did absolutely nothing. I remember Wang saying something in the past about wanting to be the "classiest organization in the league" which sounds so ridiculous in hindsight. From trying to erase Pat Lafontaine's name from the record books, to removing Billy Jaffe, to banning Chris Botta and so on, I can't think of a more classless organization. The off-ice stuff probably bothers me even more than the on-ice stuff and that's saying a lot.
