Stars trade Grossman(N) to Philadelphia for 2nd ('12) and 3rd ('13)
Quote:
Dallas Stars General Manager Joe Nieuwendyk announced today that the club has traded defenseman Nicklas Grossman to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for a second-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft (originally Los Angeles’ pick) and a third-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft (originally Minnesota’s pick).
Good deal for us.. I think they saw something in Nicklas which we never could.. I fear to say his progress stopped somewhere in the Crawford era and Gully/Jerrod couldn't fix it.
Hey guys, Rangers fan here. Just wondering how Grossman is defensively, how physical he is, and what pairing he's usually on. Thanks.
He's not played up to what we've seen in the past couple of years. Lots and lots of turnovers (case be made for most of our team on this though). Gets beat and beat badly.
If he ever learned how big he is, he could be a force physically. But would be shocked to see it happen.
Great trade for Dallas. Philadelphia wanted someone to stand around in front of their net now that Pronger is out for the year so I guess Grossman's as good as anyone for that. Doubt they'll be keeping him around after this season.
just one more reason to cheer against Los Angeles this year come on Flames and Coyotes!

OK good. We've won all our games against Philly because of their defense and goaltending. Glad to know there are still issues there.
Best of luck to you guys.
It's funny reading comments on the Stars fb page. People are pissed. Great move. Grossman was brutal. Fisty in the lineup now!
I have that page liked on facebook and I never comment on those kind of things, but I had to when I saw all the morons that were like "Nooo, Grossman is so good now we won't make the playoffs"
