Montreal-Vancouver

To Vancouver: Andrei Kostitsyn, 3rd pick

To Montreal: Jordan Schroeder

Montreal will definitively be sellers this coming trade deadline and Kostitsyn being UFA at the end of the season will likely get traded. Kostitsyn could bring depth to their line-up and could be a good RW for the Sedins.

Thought?

I really don't think a player like Schroeder is what Montreal needs.

Sure it is, he's small.

What has Schroeder proven? Montreal gets absolutely low-balled.

No

Kostitsyn is not an upgrade to Canucks current top-6 nor is he the type of player that the Canucks are looking for.

Canucks need to make room salary cap wise for this to work.

Schroeder's dripping potential. He plays in every key situation for our AHL club. If last year was considered a disappointment for him, then this one is proving to be quite the success. I'd rather wait 2 years for Schroeder instead of trading him for a player I'm lukewarm on. Even if he ends up busting after a few years, it would still have been worth the gamble. No deal, Howie.

Not good for either team. Vancouver loses a first round pick that is developing nicely for a UFA that will not be a priority to retain. Montreal trades an asset while adding a pick of their own when they could get more elsewhere. Moen is who Vancouver wants/needs.

Vancouver would be the ones adding the pick in a Kost-Midget swap.

he's an unproven nothing that has proven nothing in the big league. If he develops into something, good for him, but no way is this proposal fair value right now. It would be just as much of a gamble to do this deal for Montreal as the Nucks, don't forget...except if Montreal hypothetically executes this deal and he becomes a bust, they lose bigger.

You could say the same for every single trade for picks or prospects...

No kidding. At least JS has been developing in the AHL and you know where he stands at that level. Montreal will be fortunate to get a 1st or blue chip prospect for AK.

Of course, but Van does want Moen over AK. Something along the lines of a 2nd rounder if the habs do trade him.

Doubt Gillis would be interested in adding another tweener forward.

Kostitsyn wouldn't even make our top 6, let alone be a better fit than Burrows with the Sedins. If it was Gill or Moen I would be more excited with this

AK46 doesnt seem like the type of player Gillis would even talk to let alone trade for.

Canucks need to shed salary, not take on an unnecessary contract while losing a nice raymond type prospect.

Schroeder would prolly get eaten alive in that division. He needs more strength and size but u know he'd be rushed in mtl.

Too much fail

which is why you almost NEVER see actual value being traded for prospects, they're generally packaged with a greater center-piece, or something more appealing in general(exception being Brayden Schenn to Philly, but if you believe the partying rumours, you could argue that Holmgren was trying to trade Richards and took the gamble)

Too many people listen to tsn. A Moen type player would be welcomed but there is no chance the Canucks move a 2nd round pick for moen.

Think along the lines of what they moved for Higgins and Lapierre at last years deadline.

3rd rounders + c prospects.

They won't target the players everyone is talking about.

Schroeder doesn't fit our team needs at all. He's the last prospect we would have interest in.

Kostitsyn is exactly what the Canucks don't need. Pass.
