Holland and a 2nd would not surprise me if we're the ones that made the offer.

For everyone saying he is worth more, don't forget he is a UFA. So it's rental prices.

I hope they do trade him, Leafs get instantly worse without him, hes the heart and soul of the club and as a sens fan would love to see him go.

Yeah but the Leafs traded Tomas Kaberle for Colborne + 1st just last year. Grabovski has been much more important to the Leafs these last 2 years then Kaberle was during his time of departure.

Also he's young and a huge character guy.

Ideally for you guys, but I'm guessing the market isn't full of available number one centermen.

Ultimately it comes down to a future cap issues for them. If they believe Grabvoski and what they have is something they can move forward with in the center spot then they sign him to his 5+ million a season and move on but if they believe they need a legit 1st line center they really can't afford him at $5,000,000 if they're thinking they need an upgrade.

Burke right or wrong believes Connolly plays an effective shutdown role as a center while contributing on offense so he's pretty much set in place at 4.5 a season as the 2nd line center and I really don't see many offers to take him with the total lack of effort he's put forth this season even if the Leafs suddenly were willing to admit mistakes.

Komisarek and his contract obviously doesn't help and because of dressing room reasons I don't see him going down any time soon, even if his play continues the direction it's taken over the last little stretch. It's also pretty much common sense that he's going no where unless you take a bad contract back so no money being freed up there.

If they really wanted I believe they could find a taker for Lombardi though, I'm not entirely sure that they don't believe they see something in his game that makes them believe he's on the verge of finding his old form again though.

All that said, that offer is on the low side of things. If they do move Grabovski because they can't come to an agreement on what will fit inside the Leafs future plans for a contract I'm quite certain he'll fetch a 1st and a prospect.

Definitely shouldn't do it just for that. Trade him and we probably miss the playoffs...all for a second rounder and a prospect that probably isn't more than good anyway?

Always the possibility of Burke using Grabo to gain assets, turn those around in some kind of package for Nash.

Highly unlikely to actually happen, though.

Also, the deal with Columbus would have to be done before Burke pulls the trigger on trading Grabs.

Probably will depend on how the Leafs do in the next week and a half. If they continue to play terribly as a unit, I'm sure Burke would be more likely to make a deal.

Grabovski at 5M is too much for my liking, and Burke may not like the price that his agent must be wanting soon.

Then again, Dreger also thought Burke would get a 2nd for Kaberle.
if connolly gets 4.5 grabo should get 5 milllion per year for 5 year deal

Most likely the Ducks (going for the playoff push), hopefully the prospect is Schultz, Palmieri or Etem but most likely its Holland or Rakell.

Seriously doubt Palmieri or Etem come to Toronto for a rental...and certainly not with a pick attached. That's huge overpayment for the ducks.

Why wouldn't it be our best center prospect? I thought that was your biggest need.

Edit: Sorry, beat your edit. It could also be Karlsson.

I'm not sure the market is ever full of available 1Cs.

That's why it's a GM's job to go out and make deals happen. Ours is fairly adverse to doing anything big, so I'm skeptical it's the Caps anyway.

Ville Leino was paid $4.5M per this past summer. This is the market. 55+ point players will get $4.5M-$5.5M on the open market.
