I don't think Lupul is any different from guys like Sharp, Lucic, Hartnell/Jagr, Horton etc that are on winning teams top line.
Look at the situations they are in.
Sharp - Shooter who plays defensive and can cash in off the playmaking of Toews.
Lucic - Hard nosed guy who creates space for Horton and Krejci
Hartnell Same as Lucic
You all ***** about having a guy who will stand up for Kessel. Who would you rather have on our top line, Lupul or Lucic? For me it's Lucic because he does the things Kessel doesn't, and that's what linemates do.
Why is Burrows good? He does what the Sedins dont.

You said ++ I have no idea what ++ is. I can only imagine that it means you add.
i was at the game in edmonton last night and Gardiner was impressive.. didn't get into much trouble and scored a beauty in the 3rd.. i thought Franson was the most noticable D man and gardiner a close 2nd.
Komi the least impressive.. liles was meh, as was phaneuf before the last backcheck which was awesome.
I'd love nash here in toronto but not in a deal involving a young premiere up and coming D man like gardiner.
Sorry bout that, I mean we add 2 more high value players, or picks, like a first and kulemin or kadri and mac.
Oh, well I don't know who we'd add.
I'll try and not steer this thread when I say this.
It's almost impossible to trade Nash. Simply because his contract is big that a roster player would have to be moved. But, it would have to be a good roster player. CBJ doesn't want good roster players, they want good prospects. The better the roster player the worse the prospect is.
Like hypothetically if we had to move say, Kessel. Burke wouldn't add anything. But, if we were to move Lombardi we'd add a good prospect.
They can't really move Nash until the off season when teams have more flexibility.
Also, this has been THE face of their franchise since they moved. If they trade for potential that doesn't become as good as him, CBJ is ****ed and will probably relocate.
I'd trade Schenn, Franson, Aulie, Phaneuf, Liles before I think about trading Gardiner. In my opinion he's the best defensemen on this team and he's only 21. His skating ability, his poise, his vision are all just awesome... what a beaut. He needs to work on getting stronger, and improving his shot, we need to see shots like he had in Edmonton more often. But in terms of potential, the kid has the tools to be a #1 defensemen in this league, he may not put it all together but we gotta keep him and find out. I wouldn't trade him in a package for Nash, simply because we have other pieces we can trade before him, he should be close to untouchable.
Can't give up on our young assets when they show as much promise as Jake shows. It'll be something that will probably come back to bite us in the butt as it always does.
He is fast, passes at a very high level already and can shoot like kabby never could.
Put him with a McCabe and 40 would be easy. Not to mention he already has 18 points this year, will end near 25, if not more.
His passing is good, but he's not at Kaberle's level. And Kaberle was a great shooter. He just never utilized it. Kaberle, when on his game, was arguably the premiere PMD in the league.
I've seen a lot of defensemen come through Toronto over the years, and Gardiner's skating seems to be the only thing that sticks out to me. He has a long way to go, and I won't be surprised if the fanbase turns on him next year should he sophmore slump.
The only concern with moving him would be the lack of mobile puck movers on our blueline, which is the bread and butter of our entire system.
