The excerpts didn't even hint at religion, or religious views for that matter. It was added by the original poster.

I don't think I'd trade Gardiner straight up for Nash. Yeah, that sounds crazy, but I have a feeling Nash is on the way down, which makes that cap hit a huge problem. And I think Gardiner will be an amazing d-man. He's been fantastic so far, getting better every week.

if we trade Gardiner and a legit #1 isnt coming back we're stupid.

Gardiner is the real deal. I trade Schenn before Gardiner. Too bad Gardiner is probably more valuable

Glad to see a prospect actually wanting to stay here. Jake Gardiner is one of the best Leafs prospects I've had the pleasure of watch play in the past while. To be honest, the closest NHL comparable I see is Scott Niedermayer, just the way where he's so good in all three zones, plays both PP and PK effectively and efficiently, and more often than not makes the smart play. He also possesses excellent vision and passing abilities, not to mention he shoots!

I could honestly say I would be upset if we decide to trade him away, as I think he's going to be an amazing player. He's already on the right track. Definitely a Gardiner jersey in the future if he, in fact, does not get traded. He's one of my favorite Leafs!

People need to relax a little bit. Yes, Gardiner has incredible potential. Yes, he has had a good rookie season. However, his deficiencies are almost as glaring as his great skills.

What BIitz is saying is that no one is untouchable. You simply have to give-to-get. The team is very mediocre - there's no question that they need to improve in all positions. If the right player becomes available, and the asking price is Jake Gardiner, Burke would be silly not to take it.

Again, I don't want to see Jake traded - same as Luke - but if it is for a player who will improve our team MORE than these two young studs, you do it.

Period.

Just shows how great that deal was with the Ducks. If Columbus offered Nash for Lupul and Gardiner I don't think I would make that deal.

I'd think Gardiner is as close to an untouchable as this Team has. Only way he goes is as the centre piece from the Leaf side, not a throw in to complete a deal.

That's awesome. Exactly what you want to hear from a young guy. Shows that Toronto is a great place to be, young or old.

My thoughts too.

His value to this team is likely more than we know at this point. If he reaches the flashes of potential he's shown, he's going to be a very, very good player.

He has great speed, great poise with the puck, and ideal NHL defender size. He just needs more experience, and strength - both of which will come in time.

Offense was an area many questioned at the NHL level, but he's starting to come around in that area too.

I don't know about you guys, but I honestly feel that Gards has 60-point potential.

kid looks more like niedermayer every game. untouchable as far as im concerned.

if a nash deal is getting hung up because they want gardiner, then nash can go somewhere else.

I would like Nash in a Leafs uniform, but not at the risk of losing Gardiner; for some reason it just has a Tom Kurvers for Scott Niedermeyer vibe to it.

Glad to see I'm not the only one that sees Niedermayer-esque qualities in Gards. He's good right now and only going to get better.

I think a large majority agree, that Gardiner-Franson pairing has looked pretty nice.

That's the way I feel.

I don't want to lose Gardiner or Schenn. They are both at the upper echelon at what they do well (Gards: speedy PMD; Luke: hard hitting, battling along the boards), and their respective strengths compliment each other's weaknesses perfectly. I see them quickly developing into a high-end pairing.

But if we get a shot at a big, young, game-breaking stud up front, the kind of player opposing coaches have nightmares about, well then... all cards are on the table.

Probably my two favorite Leafs defensemen.

I've been following Franson since his days with the Giants, and always wanted the Leafs to grab him.

I never heard of Gardiner until I started doing my usual prospect research prior to the 2008 draft, and I've been following him ever since.

Burke has brought in not only good players, but players I liked prior to them joining the Leafs. It's great!

I would be shocked if Leafs trade Gardiner, if Burke does, then it would be a hell of a return and probably a win for the Leafs. So while I wouldn't trade Gardiner, the return may be too great not to and that would lessen the blow of losing him. But again I would be surprised if Gardiner isn't a key member of the Leafs 5 years from now.

I think we have that in Kessel. Maybe not nightmarish, but still a guy coaches really need to worry about. Especially right now the combination of him and Lupul.

Outside of Kessel, Lupul and Phaneuf, Gardiner should be the highest value Leaf. He's a dealbreaker on most trades if you ask me.
