I would be okay with burning a year in his ELC. I think his regular season finishes in 2 weeks and his team in Sweden is going nowhere. So, instead he could be playing about a month of regular season and playoffs (eventually). This could be a nice addition, him playing such a playoff tailored game, and he'll gain some experience.
Unless there's an injury, I'm not sure why you would want to change the team chemistry in the playoffs, particularly with Silfverberg who unlike Mika has not played at all with the team this year. Dance with the guys who brung ya.
No on Zibby. We're not burning that ELC year, we wouldn't need him come playoff time as there'd be guys in Bingo ahead of him on the depth chart at this point. We're not seeing him until camp next September.
There would be a remote possibility he'd come over just travel with the team and soak in the playoff experience before even making the NHL, happens with young players all the time, but it's usually done with a player who's already in North America. Makes it a little more difficult when the kid is over in Europe.
I don't expect that the Europeans will be involved at all this yr in Ottawa but you never know. I hope that Murray is able to sign a NCAA unsigned player who is playing well again & that some of the Bingo players will get a few games as soon as it is assured Ottawa has a playoff spot secured. The only junior who may get a shot in Ottawa this yr IMO could be Stone if or when his team is elliminated from the playoffs. It's more likely that he will likely play in Bingo though.
Whether or not he'd be able to play, or Bryan Murray is willing to bring him over, I think he could have a decent impact in the type of role Niederreiter has on the Island. He can bring energy and speed to our fourth line, while adding a lot of firepower to our second powerplay unit.
Again, in all likelihood it will come down to Murray. Silfverberg will probably be busy with SEL playoffs or the World Championship.
Zibanejad can be recalled as one of the 4 at anytime during this regular season. Will it happen? You didn't ask that. If he plays one more game, regular or playoff this season, he ELC kicks in.
I came into ask this question. Are you 100% sure a playoff game counts towards his 9 game/entry level burner? Because playoff games don't count towards waivers or rookie status to my best of knowledge so it would be strange that it does count for ELC. So are you 100% sure about the playoff games counting? I'll take your word for it if you're certain.
