Nash will be moved like others have said it looks like there is a divorce in the making. Could be now or the summer but Both sides need to move on not rebuild around Nash... again

Yakupov will be a good peice to their puzzle this summer. As for Nash, if they are to trade him I would think getting a potential number 1 center in return would be a must.

If I was them I would look to Boston and see what it would take to strip Seguin away...although they would need to take on some salary to make that work. Not sure how high they are on Horton and his 4M cap hit.

That is on spot they have always lacked and with Yakupov being a winger, they'll need something better in the middle then what they have now.

Out of curiosity let's imagine we do the impossible and landed both Nash and Suter.
Do we legitimately contend next year? Where would that put us in the league in your opinions?

We would challenge Boston for NE. It also depends what we give up for them though.

If we got Nash for Foligno, 1st, and a prospect and then signed Suter, I think we would be around top 5 in the league.

Trade kuba. The price of a defenseman this trade deadline is steep! And his value is at a high now

We would absolutely be contending imo. Id say top 5 for sure, with the potential to be top 3 in the following year or two.

We have what it takes to get Nash, but what is too much? It would take one of Silvferberg/Zibby + 1st + roster player to get him though I think.

We would absolutely not be a contender with Nash and Suter next year. Our depth is still a big problem with this team. Compare us with the Canucks, Pens, Bruins, Rangers and we're nowhere near as deep. Plus, Anderson doesn't compare with any of those goaltenders either.

The question was both Nash and Suter, which I believe would take us to the next level. Those are guys that would play a huge amount of minutes for the team.

And Im not saying we would win either. But if two star players like that dont even put us in the conversation, then you have a very, very low opinion of this team.

Edit: whoops.. could have swore you first posted nash or suter..

What?

Its at least a playiff contender with Nash and Suter.

Nash- Spezza- Michalek
Siflverberg- Turris- Alfredsson
Foligno- Smith- Zibenajad
Greening- Obrien- Neil

Suter- Karlsson
Cowen-Gonchar
Philips-Lee

Thats a playoff contender and some. This team is extremly underrated even by our own fanbase which is sad.

Silfverberg/MZ/both aren't on this team if we have Nash... Cowen/Gonchar/Phillips/Lee don't compare with other contending teams either and again, Anderson is far from the same calibre as Lundqvist/Thomas/Luongo

Turris also doesn't compare with Kesler/Bergeron/Staal right now either.

We're 3rd last in GA/G. Adding Suter makes Kuba's minutes better + 3/4 extra minutes, but it doesn't help the fact that our bottom 4 are not up to contender status.

Based on your line up, I sure hope we make it deep in the playoffs.
Guessing Suter is going to want 7.5 mil and Karlsson is going to get 5.3 here is what the break down would look like.

CAPGEEK.COM CAP CALCULATOR

Rick Nash ($7.800m) / Jason Spezza ($7.000m) / Milan Michalek ($4.333m)
Jakob Silfverberg ($0.900m) / Kyle Turris ($1.400m) / Daniel Alfredsson ($4.875m)
Nick Foligno ($1.500m) / Zack Smith ($0.700m) / Mika Zibanejad ($1.775m)
Colin Greening ($0.816m) / Jim O'Brien ($0.875m) / Chris Neil ($2.000m)
Erik Condra ($0.625m)

DEFENSEMEN
Ryan Suter ($7.500m) / Erik Karlsson ($5.300m)
Chris Phillips ($3.083m) / Sergei Gonchar ($5.500m)
Jared Cowen ($1.265m) / Brian Lee ($0.875m)
Mark Borowiecki ($0.610m)

GOALTENDERS

CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)
(these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion)

That is how much space we would have left. Gutsy.

I think your are right on this, but I do believe Ottawa is currently rising in competitivness while Bruins and Rangers are in a need to win now stage, hence why Rangers are willing to give up alot to get Nash.

My guess is Nash goes to Toronto and Carter to LA, if Columbus gets enough for Carter they might not even trade Nash.

It is looking like Nash might be going to T.O.

I hope we can get Parise in the off season then,

Why do you think he is going to Toronto?

Murray is in an excellent spot with a lot of young guys available for the picking as well as Murray having assets available and cap space to get something done.

Hopefully he doesn't miss the boat. I don't mean like going all out for Nash but maybe making a smart trade for Bogosian and then persuading Parise to come here or making a solid trade for Bobby Ryan.

Trading Gonchar/Kuba for Kaberle type deal which gives us assets for future and now, etc...

A lot of possibilities, scenarios.

Just because the two of them are meeting it doesn't mean a trade is going to happen. Nash is the best player on the trade market right now, every GM is doing everything they can to try and land him: Burke just likes to leak stuff to the media.

I would not read that much into a meeting is it possible he is traded to Toronto sure but does a meeting means its a lock no.

if anyone will sell the farm for Nash it will be Burke he's so crazy... with that said I'm almost 100% positive they are going after Carter.

they desperately need a center not a high skilled winger. To get nash Columbus would want kessel for sure and they shouldn't ask for less unless they are stupid.
