This isn't Canadian hockey in the least, a real league wouldn't stand for this kind of ****.

Theres a difference between sticking up for yourself in a normal hockey game and dealing with these goons whose only purpose is to try and injure the opposing team.
exactly, when you have 4-5 full fledged goons to deal with from one team there isn't much you can do. NHL teams would get bullied too, a few guys would try to fight -and get killed. The rest of the guys would rather have nothing to do with it.

They should have signed Huberdeau in Brennan's stead...

If I owned a KHL team, I would just refuse to report to there cities to play them. Tell my players to forget about it and stay home, we will continue the road trip after wards. The league will react to that response. If more than one team does it, then Vityaz will actually be forced to have hockey players out there, instead of pathetic goons like this.

How many incidents like this have to occur before they will step in? Does someone have to be hospitalized or even worse, die? It's just pathetic and should have no place in sports.

But if the league continues to avoid addressing their tactics, maybe the only way to keep your talent from getting jumped is by signing your own goons.

I'm soooo seeing Tinordi signed by Magnitogorsk for that purpose, but Magnitka is fully aware that Tinordi has to play the actual hockey as well.

Anyhow, most goons gotten by KHL teams will likely have to play fourth-line forward or D (if lucky, third-line forward or D) when not scrapping.

Sounds like a scenario I jokingly suggested to a couple of my buddies. Everyone can forfeit their games against Vityaz, putting them in first place in the league with an undefeated system. Maybe then the KHL will take this problem seriously if their league becomes such a joke as having Vityaz become champions.

Actually, forfeiture of games in the KHL mean that both teams lose 5-0. So Vityaz will actually be dead last and pick anywhere between #1-3.

I just don't get how you can fight someone who makes it clear he doesn't want to fight. Who learns that anywhere in hockey? You may chirp at the guy for turtling or for backing down, or for skulking away, and you may question his manhood, but to go after him regardless? That's crazy. Look at #47 chase that one guy down.

There is no hockey culture anywhere that teaches that as a youth. Even in the LNAH you have a couple of willing guys going at it, just more often than the norm. This? That one may be a Vityaz original. There needs to be a blanket refusal to play that goon squad on the part of multiple owners, particularly the influential oligarch types that wield all the power.

Jumping guys that clearly want no part of it is assault, pure and simply. When are these thugs going to be charged?

What I would love to know is, how do Vityaz fans react in the stands when they see this? Or is this done only on the road? I'd be curious to know how the team's own fans treat these situations.

I'm surprised that Vityaz Chekhov has not been thrown out of the KHL. They're largely a goon squad that doesn't try to put butts in the seats otherwise. To me, when Lokomotiv Yaroslavl returns to the KHL next season, they should take Vityaz's place in the league with a minor realignment if need be.

I have no problem with a fight or two, but this squad goons it up and is consistently near the bottom of the KHL standings. And their coach is a former NHL goon.

Edit: I didn't see this:

I want Lokomotiv reconstructed and then Tie Domi ends up being the GM and brings over just the nastiest enforcers he can find. MacIntyre, Orr, bring Brasher back onto the ice, hell grab McGrattan, maybe a couple of SPHL guys. Just go to ****ing town on Vityaz.

Tarnasky is such a fake tough guy. Dude got beat on by everyone in the NHL, and now picks on Euros who don't fight back.

KHL is a JOKE!

I'd rather Lokomotiv is brought back with respectable players and a talented roster that wants to compete, allowing the league to fold Vityaz.

That's what steroids do. Assaults like those don't belong to hockey. But even more worried i'm for their girlfriend/wifes and kids. If they can't control themselfs on ice at all, i'm sure they will act the same way in home too when some disappointments happens.

It looks like they have lost all their humanity and act like some gorillamales. I think professional hockey should get rid off steroids.

How would Mike Smith rebuild Lokomotiv? Is he the kind of GM to build a team with talented rosters or with clutch-and-grab players?

Steroids don't make people act like that.
That's premeditated.

I'm shocked that this hasn't happened yet, you have to wonder if this is going to end with one of the goons losing his eyesight because someone retaliates with a stick.
