Hmmmm...Preds pick up Gill eh?

Bringing in a body to replace Suter perhaps?

Stir the pot

*Edit* - Wow...the Preds traded away Geoffrion? Interesting...he grew up in Tennessee. Thought they'd want to keep him around as he's a bit of a marketing tool for Nashville (and Tennessee) hockey.

This makes Suter expendable.

It'll be weird seeing him in another jersey.

I think no matter where he ends up he'll always be mainly a Canadien. Just my opinion.
I dunno, I'd bet he thinks of himself as a Penguin, where he won a cup

Hemsky's gotta be worth more than a 2nd + prospect now.

Played tons more games for the Bruins. Won a cup in Pittsburgh. Had his best production in Toronto. From Massachusetts.

So I disagree, respectfully.

Good for Nashville. Definitely stabilizes things beyond Weber/Suter. Hopefully they're still going to be active to bring in a forward.

Gill will be great for you guys in the playoffs. He's also great in the room. He's gonna be missed here.

Habs trade Hal Gill and a conditional 5th rounder to Preds for Blake Geoffrion, Robert Slaney, and a 2nd rounder in 2012

Great trade for both teams. Exactly what the Preds have needed. A big, crease-clearing defenseman that will get nasty. Since Suter and Weber are on the top-pairing, Gill will fit in nicely in the bottom 4. Gill's also a veteran leader. He's got a lot of playoff experience and a Stanley Cup ring. Great guy in the locker room. He'll be a great fit.

The Habs got a nice return really. Geoffrion is still a decent prospect. Won't be anything great, but he'll be a good bottom 6 center hopefully. He's already played a bit in the NHL but at the start of this season was sent back down for more seasoning. He wasn't truly NHL-ready but he should be fairly soon. Slaney's nothing but a career AHLer (maybe the Preds needed to get rid of a contract so they included him in the package?). Then there is a pick going each way.

Expect Habs PK to come down, Preds PK to improve.

This guy is really good Penalty Killer. IMO, he'll mix in well in Preds system.

Geoffrion, Slaney, and a second, eh? That's more than I expected.

Still, good pickup for Nashville.

Cool to get Geoffrion and a 2nd. That basically confirms the "deadline premium" theories. I didn't realize Nashville was a candidate destination, but since I like that team, it's nice to see Gill go there. I have to admit I never appreciated Gill very much from his Boston and Toronto histories, but he really was a fine player and finer citizen for the Habs. All the best to him!

So far this year we've seen Hal Gill, Tomas Kaberle, Poni, Dom Moore and Pavel Kubina is about ready to go? Nik Hagm an via waivers.

up next? Nik Antropov, Jason Blake

Ladies and gentleman, the 2007-2008 Toronto Maple Leafs are finally being traded.

Though I get what you guys are saying about Gill, that he played more games elsewhere, I think he really was a perfect fit with the habs. He had CH tattooed on his heart. I don't care how well he did elsewhere, he was a Canadien through and through.

That's a steep price for Gill. Good pickup and makes the Preds a better team, but very expensive.
