You could argue that Geoffrion's been been playing like an ECHLer in Milwaukee too.

I was about to ask are these guys good?
B. Geoffrion, R. Slaney

I doubt Slaney plays in the NHL ever.

Geoffrion is looking like his upside is 3rd liner, but since he was the first Tennessean he was more publicity stunt then core player. Not to say we didn't like him here, or he didn't play hard though. I'm actually more surprised we gave up a 2nd in a draft where our mgmt. have compared it to '03.

Glad to shore up the D though.

To the guy saying Habs PK going down. Our PK went 100% in game Hal Gill was out injured for.

Geoffrion...i'm not sure anyone in nashville or the NHL would care about him if not for his last name and where he was raised (brentwood, TN)

He made the team when he was badly outplayed in camp by Gabriel Bourque and Chris Mueller based on a decent showing last season...but did absolutely nothing, and lost his spot to Gabriel Bourque.

Since getting sent down...he's playing a similar game in Milwaukee--good PKer, good energy guy, but absolutely no offense in his game. I'd say his upside is 3/4th liner...and i hate to lose a TN kid, but honestly this fills such a need that I don't mind it.

I think i'm more upset about the second round pick, TBH.

Hall Gil a replacement for a moved Ryan Suter or Shea Weber? Nice little trade for Montreal. I like Geoffrion's game.

The key player is Robert Slaney.

Apparently he's so good that Nashville was willing to give up Cody Franson to get him

Thats a steep price to pay for Gill.
I wonder if the blatent knee to Peverly increased his value.

So Gill for 2nd and Geoffrion?

Every team has a "Geoffrion" (some have 2 or 3) so I don't look at it as anything substantial. He's a dime a dozen talent

Fair value both ways

Gill's defensive numbers this season are absolutely atrocious. I mean, like, 'I don't care if you don't like stats to determine a players value they are so bad it's tough to argue with' kind of bad.

I haven't watched one Montreal game this season, but good lord, they are bad.

To the people ripping this trade for Nashville:

Gill will be perfect partner for a kid like Ellis.

Their PK is also 16th in the league, expect it to rise up the ranks.

Finally, their team produces forwards of Geoffrion's style constantly.

They should let Blake wear #5. That'd be cool

It's going to be exciting watching Boom Boom JR playing in Montreal.

Nashville's defense is crazy now.

Weber,Suter,Gill,Ellis,Klein,Hillen,Blum,Boullion. .. They have 8 dmen on their roster now though.

Slaney is not an NHL prospect, he's basically just a throw in to give nashville contract space.

I like this trade for both teams. Obviously MTL has some rebuilding to do; and Gill should fit in great in Nashville.

I agree with btn in that I wish we could have done it with just Geoffrion and Slaney, but I guess I can live with the 2nd.

This is one of the two pieces Nashville absolutely needed. A defensive defenseman with size who can clear the crease.

Now, Poile, package Blum with some pieces to get a top six forward.
