Very happy about this trade. Its going to be nice to see "Geoffrion" on the back of a Habs jersey again.

Well done PG !

I wonder. Can gauthier pull off a kaberle to NJD trade? I know they wanted a struggling zidlicky who gets paid similar with 1 year less but older.

I was laughed at when I wrote Gill could fetch a 2nd rounder and maybe more... but even in my wildest dream I couldn't ask for that kind of return !!!

Nice trade. I'm officially hopping on the Smashville bandwagon.

Thanks for the memories Hal. You will be missed.

Any confirmation on the 2nd round pick? Is it 2012 or 2013?

Fanatastic return, would have been even better without Slaney.

Not happy about Slaney, we are now at our contract limit, hopefully we can unload a couple of more bodies so we have free contracts to try to sign NCAA or CHL free agents.

@Real_ESPNLeBrun
If Geoffrion gets 40 gp in Montreal next year, Nashville gets that fifth-round pick. If he doesn't play in that many games, no pick for Nash

Wow, so we got good leadership, a great penalty killer, an important part of our playoff run, a mentor for Subban early in his career and a great return at the deadline. Gill might be our best FA pickup over the past few years.

Wicked move. Gill is a playoff beast but still a bit overrated and especially this haul he brought us shows that. If this is the case, let's make these trades even if our team tries to make the playoffs. Campoli, you're next! Then see ya later Moen- love the guy but if he can get us a similar return, screw him! Do we just go with 6 D-men or does St-Denis get the callup he deserves?

Do the Habs have 3 second rounders now? Looks like UFA contact + pending return of Markov = Gill expendable. Campoli next? Gonna miss Gill, a true gentleman!

The Canadiens also sent a conditional fifth round pick in 2013 to Nashville in the deal and acquired forward Robert Slaney and a second round draft pick in 2012.
Nice! The pick is this year.

Let's wait for Blake to actually make the NHL before giving him #5? 24 years old, not good enough for the Preds offense. Yeah.

If Geoffrion gets to 40 GP next year, pick becomes a 5th in 2013. If not, then there's no pick.
