I realize this is an opinion thread but I don't really like any of these deals. We give up picks and young players in everyone this are things we need to hang on to. We need to use our extra ufa assets such Sarich, Hannan, Moss to get younger versions more picks and nhl fillers until injuries are over.

But realistically you have to pay to get good young NHL players. Sarich and hannan unless combined with picks will not get you good young NHL players

thats fine we get a second or so for Hannan and then get healthy on the playoff push at this point we should hang onto young assets and allow them progress and just try to patch the bottom two lines for the next few weeks until we get healthy again no need to sell the farm.

I like the basis of that deal.
Would change it to Neimiz+4th or possibly 3rd for Purcell depending on wha this contract is like.

Why do we need Purcell? We have Stempniak and Glencross in that same role already.

Can't have enough cheap second liners but I don't think that offer gets it done.

Well what would you do? Although I wouldn't do those trades either.

Glenncross, Stempniak, and Smith aren't coming back until a few weeks from now, so that Purcell trade would help us greatly. We then could move him down to the third line once everyone is healthy again.

Honestly just move Hannan for a 2nd and flip Sarich for a forward like frolik who is young can play in the top 6 while we are banged up and then moved down the roster to be honest I think just waiting these injuries out is our best play.

I'd move only one of them. Babchuck could then replace one of them.

Trading both Sarich and Hannan would be a disaster for our defense pairings/lines.

I believe Wilson proved nhl ready and the two would only have to play for a week or two until smith is back.

I think it makes sense for both teams, Hawks are looking for help on D, and with the prices seemingly being high, a second plus a little more for Hannan seems right, than I see Froliks value at a little more than a 4th. Flames get a pick and a young roster player to help out, Hawks get stability on their backend and a pick. Seems even to me atleast.

In my estimates, the lines are going to be rotating something like this.

Tanguay/Cammelleri - Jokinen/Backlund - Iginla
Cammelleri/Tanguay - Kolanos/Backlund/Jokinen - Jones/Comeau
Bouma - Backlund/Kolanos/Stajan - Comeau/Jones
Kostopolous - Stajan/Kolanos - Jackman

The D is pretty much set as

Bouwmeester - Butler
Giordano - Hannan
Brodie - Sarich

And with Irving being sent down we have

Kipprusoff
Karlsson

Now, when were healthy. We have Moss/Stempniak and Glencross to sort out and Derek Smith or Babchuk to send down or trade.

When/If were healthy, I see the lines as follows.

Tanguay/Glencross - Jokinen - Iginla
Glencross/Tanguay/Cammalleri - Cammelleri/Backlund - Stempniak
Bouma - Backlund - Comeau
Kostopolous - Kolanos - Jackman
Moss, Jones

Bouwmeester - Butler
Giordano - Hannan
Brodie - Sarich
Smith

Now, were still weak on right wing and we could still use a 1st line center, as well as a top 4 D. Were stupid strong on LW, all the way down our prospect pool to Baertschi in the WHL. So I think we should trade Tangs or Glencross, or play one of them at RW if they're up for it.

If we bet the Farm...

To Columbus
Glencross/Tanguay, Moss, Stajan, picks

To Calgary
Carter

Making the top 6

Tanguay(Glencross)/Cammelleri - Carter - Iginla
Cammelleri/Tanguay(Glencross) - Jokinen - Stempniak/Comeau

Then..

to Carolina
Babchuk, Jones, Prospect, high pick.

To Calgary
Ruutu

Top six then is

Tanguay(Glencross)/Cammelleri - Carter - Iginla
Cammelleri/Tanguay(Glencross) - Jokinen - Ruutu

If that works, we dont need Stempniak and could use a Top 4 D...

To Dallas
Stempniak, Ivanans, Jordan Henry

To Calgary
Grossman

And our team now is

(Glencross)Tanguay/Cammelleri - Carter - Iginla
Cammelleri/Tanguay(Glencross) - Jokinen - Ruutu
Bouma - Backlund - Comeau
Kostopolous - Kolanos - Jackman
????

Bouwmeester - Grossman
Giordano - Butler
Hannan - Sarich
Brodie

Kipprusoff
Karlsson

If we're way out of the playoffs, then perhaps we could bank on Karri Ramo as our starter and Trade Kipper for some picks and have Irving and Karlsson 50/50 it for the rest of the season and go for Parise, Ruutu, Carter or Grossman in the off season if available.

GlenX would be a 30 goal scorer if not hurt and Tangs has been a point per game since his injury I wouldn't do that trade at all, and didn't grossman get traded yesterday?
