Rangers & Wild

To

2012 2nd round draft pick
Ryan Bourque/Andrew Yogan/Oscar Lindberg

To

Kyle Brodziak

Too much? Too little? More of a brainstorm than anything.

Don't know much about the prospects mentioned, and the 2nd figures to be pretty late... any chance of replacing the prospect with a 3rd rounder?

Thanks, Mr. Boyle, for posting this 9 minutes after I brought him up in the trade thread on our board. I came to this section to see if there was anything about Brodziak anywhere.

Something else I would explore is the possibility of swapping our 1st-rounder for the Wild's 2nd, if they still have it, as part of this deal. The very little I found on their board seemed to be suggesting a late 1st is what they'd be looking for, but that's a tough one to swallow for the Rangers.

So a late 1st and a B prospect for pending UFA Broziak and an early 2nd.... maybe?

San Jose has our 2nd this year from the Setoguchi/Burns swap. Brodziak would be a way for us to get one back

I'd prefer to give up the third.

Yogan is a player with size and a decent amount of skill. Only setback was injuries. 3rd rounder in '10. Lindberg is a dominant faceoff man and a smart defensive player. Bourque is a small, fast, smart, and decently talented winger.

They're B/C level prospects, but they have NHL potential.

Ah, well so much for that. I'd be willing to give up a 3rd rounder in addition to the 2nd, but not from this year's draft. After having this team mostly built through the draft, I don't like the idea of only having 1 pick in the first three rounds. 2012 2nd and 2013 3rd is fine with me though.

By the way, your username and avatar are awesome.

Well, we don't have it, is the point.

Sounds good value wise, but do you have any defenders in the pipeline with similar value to the guys you listed?

Right now the Wild need defensive prospects, not forwards.

I'm not a big fan of moving Brodziak, but this looks like one of the better offers.

Oddly enough, no we don't. We have two A level defensive prospects and a bunch of C level ones. Pavel Valentenko is the closest thing we have a B level defenseman in the system and I don't know how much value he has given that he's 24 and has yet to play an NHL game. Unless we trade you Stu Bickel in the deal.

Actually, I forgot about Blake Parlett. He could be considered a B level prospect.

Ryan Bourque is such a great player.

I'd love to get him for sure.

2nd + Stu Bickell would probably do it for the Gopher rubes around here.

Brodziak would be great addition for a playoff team. The value is probably about right(depending on the prospect since it is a late second), but I'd hate to see him go. He has really grown on me.

I'd be fine with Bickel instead of one of the three forwards listed. He likely has a similar value, just is a d-man.

I really hope we try to re-sign Brodziak, but if we don't, a 2nd and 3rd is a return that would make not re-signing him easier to swallow.

Also, I'm pretty sure (assuming the Wild stay out of the playoff picture) that I'd become a Ranger fan for the playoffs if this trade happened.

is tim erixon on the untouchable list even for a cup run?

id highly consider something like Brodziak+zanon+? for erixon+2nd/3rd?

zanon is purley a rental, but i could see brodziak resigning for the rangers. hes not old so hes still got plently left in his tank. im sure erixon is valuable to you guys, but hes preety much the only prospect that interests me.

For a 3rd line UFA? No.

Besides, considering the fiasco that took place with him in the summer, there's no way he has any significant value around the league to anyone but the Rangers.

The general consensus is that, even if he has trade value, erixon will not be traded after the way he was acquired in the offseason.

brodziak is ideally a 3rd liner, but when push comes to shove, he can be a productive 2nd liner. great player to have on your team incase of injuries.

i understand completly why you wouldnt want to consider tho.

not to mention, i have very little knowledge of erixon and his value to the rangers, i just looked over your prospects list and hes the one that i think the wild would be interested in, for a prospect/pick package.

personally, i wanna see the rangers make it to the cup, and id be happy to see broz/zanon win it with you guys. youll be the team im hoping to win this year, the king is gonna hold down your net through it all, hes my favorite goalie

Brodziak's a decent 2nd liner for the Wild. On any other team, he's a 3rd or possibly even 4th line center.

He has stepped and played 2nd line pretty well, though. Who knows, maybe he's better than we think.
