Dude, Diaz has been pretty good, and he's just getting better. He's no world-beater for sure, but he doesn't belong with the other three.
I'm starting to lose faith in Weber though.
I agree. I think Diaz has been pretty solid lately, and he has shown a lot of improvement all year. Out of the two Swiss, I would definitely keep him and look at dealing Weber.
Habs need to finish in a position where they can draft one of the top five offensive player in the draft. Those five are : Yakupov, Grigorenko, Forsberg, Faksa, Galchenyuk. My guess is these guys will be gone past the #8 draft position. We need to tank to at least grab a top 8 draft pick, the higher the better
Incredibly sketchy game. A real testament to the terribleness of the Sabres.
Our best line was made up of a guy coming of an injury that cost him much of the season until this point, and 2 guys who were benched a few games ago. The team missed defensive assignments like clockwork. Yet we come out with a W.
I must hand it to the Sabres, they are tanking royalty.
Why not? That would mean the team is improving. I would love a top 5 pick, and I have been all for selling this year, but if they continue to have this improved record its a better sign going into next year.
Without a top 5 pick there are still a lot of things that can be done to improve the team. You can amass a few extra picks with deadline deals. The more picks you have the better your chances of acquiring some good players. If we bury Gomez in the offseason, and drop some extra salary, you can improve the team with some UFA's.
Habs WON'T finish in the bottom two. The rest of the players from 3 to 15 are about the same.
I want the habs to trade that pick and package it to get a VERY good player, a center or a top-two d-man.
That's another possibility I have been considering as well. But we are in a situation where it is so tough to tell where we will be at season's end. Dealing a 1st right now in package for some established player might end up being a wise decision. Then again it could also be a huge mistake.
If the team we would theoretically be dealing with estimates that our 1st will be a high one and it turns out we finish 9th or 10th that could be an awesome situation for us. But an awful risk for us as well.
