Sounds like this guys is pretty good at the AHL level. Best of luck to O'marra. So who does this push out of our current starting 6?

Not my boy O'Marra! NOOOOOOOOOOO!

A necessary move I suppose since Petry can't go back down when the season is over.

It's come full circle and he's back playing with the Oilers. So anything we received in that trade is meaningless... right?

Obviously know nothing about this guy, but my first thought is that it's too bad he's not younger.

But we need to accumulate D-men, so I like it.

I liked O'Marra, but with Nuge, Gagner, Horcoff, Belanger and Lander at centre he wasn't going to get much time on the Oilers anyways.

Anyone who's been following OKC closely, is the loss of O'Marra going to hurt them much?

I think shuffling the AHL line-up. They need the guys on defense and they've got too many forwards. I don't imagine this has any implications on the big squad.

Seems like a legit AHLer though. He's even had a couple cups of coffee in the NHL 09-10 saw him with 22 games with Carolina 1 goal 10 assists.

Nope a move made to help OKC.

Pretty sure Omarra would have been a UFA coming up as he hasnt played enough NHL games. Similar to the situation Bishop is in for Buffalo.

I think Rodney's on an AHL contract. Can anyone confirm?

So, one of three things:
Tambo is clearing up roster space because he'll be taking back more contracts that count towards the 50 than he'll be dealing away.

Tambo figured he might as well get something for O'Marra as they weren't going to resign him.

Tambo looked at Rodney, looked at Potter, and thought, "well, I made a happy with one career AHL d-man, maybe I can do it again!'

And honestly, if he's at least even somewhat reliable defensively, this is a solid depth move as it provides OKC with some scoring depth on the back end for a player who was really battling for ice time and efficacy with CVV. And based on Rodney's limited NHL time, it looks like he's a useful 2nd call-up option for the squad.

I like it.

I don't think Tambo has the balls for that one

I think Lander passing him so quickly was the final Straw for O'Marra. I liked the kid and I wish him luck.

One thing I know for sure, NHL or not, O'Marra will be some kind of broadcaster when he's done, the kid is ridiculously well spoken.

He's been a very good player for us. Easily our best defensive forward, plus he's developed a little bit of a scoring touch this season. Having him as a 3rd line center and top PK'er was a very nice thing.

That said, what we have a lot of are very good two-way forwards, what we really needed was a defenseman who is competent defensively, could move the puck, and can do some damage on the power play, and it appears that's exactly what we got.

O'M probably didn't have much of a future in the Oilers org anyway, hopefully this Rodney guy can stick with the Barons for a couple of years. He looks like a good one.

This leaves a gapping flow hole on the AHL squad.

Rodney is on a two-way NHL contract.

Seems just like a move to improve OKC's defense.

Only if Rodney isn't rocking something similar.

Looks like a move to help out the AHL team. Can't see this having any implication on the NHL team.
