If this is what selling looks like, I hope they continue selling all the way to the playoffs.

Great game, thought we controlled all the way (well besides the last 30 seconds maybe).

Garon was solid and the defense played really well most of the game.

However..our PP is horrendeus, Marty, Stamkos and Vinny are always trying fancy plays, it's so annoying, need to get back to the basics with the PP. If you cannot take the puck into the zone, dump it and be strong along the boards, fast puck movement, lot of traffic in front of the net and more shots! Think we had 4-5 shots tonight, thats 1 shot per PP

3 games left vs Jets
2 games left vs Caps
2 Games left vs Leafs
2 games left vs Habs
2 games left vs Canes

10/15 games are at home in March

The schedule is in our favor. Just need to keep going and collect wins and points. Difficult, but not impossible.

Maybe selling some people is what this team needed. A boot in the ass basically.

Never seen so many pucks skirt across the goal line than tonight. Unreal.

Interesting how a couple trades here and there got some butts moving.

No surprise the PP continues to be terrible. Whatever configurations/plans they've drawn up this year need to be put in a box and burned in a fire. It's painful to watch at times but good thing they had one late in the game to kill two minutes off.

Ohlund needs to explain body checking to Hedman. He tried it a few times, but seemed to forget to drive from the legs.

I wasn't a fan of when Boucher used his timeout. Clearly he wanted something to happen on the PP, which is too easily defused by just dumping the puck immediately from wherever you are. I would have called it with about 5:30 left in the 2nd(IIRC), as the Purcell attempt had just been waived off and the team looked like they lost some momentum from that.

It is nice to find a team worse at passing than we are.

Wideman even iced the puck, but they did not play 'Danger Zone' like I requested in such an event.

Ovi also looked rattled, and had a bad game. He was held to way less than 10 shots. Maybe like 1, if that. I'm sorry to tell the fans in attendance who aren't aware, but that's the way he's been for a while now.

The booing might have done something, like egg on Clark to take the opportunity to pokecheck the puck away, and then punch him in the face, which was my favorite moment of the game.

Too much of the third period was playing not to lose though, which is a dangerous plan to a potentially motivated opponent.

That's how Ovechkin has looked all season. He wasn't rattled or anything, just his usual ineffective self.

And that second part explains the Lightning's philosophy since Boucher was hired. Play not to lose when you get the lead. Last year that didn't work a few times and I was furious. This year we haven't had the lead all that often in the 3rd so it's not as noticeable. But something needs to be done about that.

Playing not to lose also is bad news bears when there's the goaltending there is.

Related to that, Boucher says nearly every game where the Lightning trail after the first, that they don't want to panic, but the subsequent triple shifting of MAB seems to feed into the idea that there is panic, but on the bench of all places, and the players feed off their coaches.

When we're saying that Boucher needs to lose his ****, we're meaning that his plan, his ideal, is solid. He needs to lose his **** at the players who aren't doing what they need to make that idealized vision happen.

I know I've written many times that I don't like coaches who have too much confidence in their system working, but the plan for that particular game was devised for a reason, and depending on circumstances, things may need to be adjusted, but the core concepts have to stay the same.

It's losing your ****, so they don't lose theirs.

No reason he shouldn't.

I'm loving Purcell on his wing though. Most consistent effort from game to game we've ever seen from Teddy. He's been flying for like the past month or so. I don't know if it's just a product of playing with a sniper like Stamkos where he can use his slick hands and passing to the most effectiveness or what but it's been great.

The Lightning don't have a power play. It's not even powerless anymore. It's pathetic.

Ovechicken is so.....average.

The booing may have had no effect on him..but my kids sure enjoyed doing it...

For Valintine my hubby bought tickets to a few of the games in this home stand and this was one of them... Was great to see them beat Washington.
