He could on principle still keep on playing after this season.
- Most of the games feel like how they did when I was 25 years old. So why can't I continue. At some point it has to be called quits and preferably in a situation where you know you could keep on playing for many years.
He doesn't want to end his career because someone tells him he can't keep up with the younger players.
According to Selänne, the "this is the last season" mentality works well, because that's when he gets the best out of himself.
- I enjoy playing every day and the greatest compliment is the positive feedback from opponents.
In Newark, a couple of Devils players told him before the game how they've followed him since they were kids and how it's an honor to play with him.
- That's the greatest compliment, when opponents thank you for all you've done.

Don't know if this means anything one way or another, just thought I'd share this about the player we all love.
I just hope we get an early decision either way with Teemu, too many times it has been so late that Anaheim has no way to plan for it.
It shouldn't matter much looking at next season. He's not holding up any trades. The only player worth looking up this summer is Grabovski, Selanne wouldn't stop us from picking him up, and that's if Grabo even makes it to free agency. Having an extra season of breathing room with our prospects wouldn't hurt.
That's been his attitude since last season. He finally realized that he doesn't want to stop, especially if he can be the top or a close second in scoring on the team.
I doubt Winnipeg stays in the southeast next season... the only thing they denied was the radical realignment, that disposed of 6 divisions, in favour of 4 conferences...
I'm very much of the belief we will see some alterations to the composition of the divisions next season, and pretty sure the NHLPA won't try to block it... & probably can't even do anything, as long as they keep the scheduling/ 6 division set up the same.
Imo, we will see something like this next season.
Winnipeg ---> Northwest
One of Detroit/Nashville/Columbus ---> South East
Dallas ---> Central
Vancouver ---> Pacific.

3 teams get moved. Winnipeg gets moved to a division that makes sense geographically, check! Vancouver gets moved to a division that makes sense geographically/ and works with time zones... , check!
Dallas... not that much better off geographically, but a bit better off since they will operating under 2 time zones in their division, rather than three. Plus, I'd say teams like Florida, Tampa, Carolina would be better rivals for a team from Texas... which would be very similar to Texas A&M entering the South East Conference in the NCAA this year.
no way Winnipeg stays in the east, let alone the south east division next season. no way at all.
