We are, what, 1 month away from the trading deadline, so that's the team we have to make a decision. If I'm PG, I'm giving myself targets to hit, and I stick to them. At this point, the only reason why I would be confident in not becoming sellers is if the team starts shelling victories after victories - which isn't happening, and I don't really believe it will happen either.
So In my mind, we're seller come February 27th.
I wouldn't go for a completely retool, but I'm confident that guys like Gill and Moen could bring surprising returns if shopped extensively (I would target a 2nd for each). If I can make a deal for one of the big guys rumored to be available in the West, I certainly go for it. I would sacrifice a guy like Subban only in a package where I can bring back a top offensive player who is still young.
Not worth struggling to finish 10th or 9th. Dump all the UFAs for some reasonable picks. Let Timmons draft well. Tank it all the way. Also get rid of anyone who currently makes NHL level decisions--coach and GM specifically. BLOW IT THE **** UP.
Sadly, "selling" and through that "rebuilding". Tonight's effort was putrid!
I can see Campoli, Gill, Kaberle, Weber, Gomez, Moen, Kostitsyn leaving town (if any takers)
I am not ever thinking we 'Tank" as we "won't".
Price-Gorges-Subban-Emelin-Diaz-Plecks-Pacs-Cole-Bourque-Deharnais-Eller-White are "somewhat ""untouchable"""....let the dust settle over the next month - see where we are and make adjustments from there - we are sellers!
Let's get Timmins some good draft picks. Last time we missed the playoffs and sold players at the deadline, he drafted McD (top pairing D on best team in the league), Subban and Patches in a terrible draft. Lets see what he can do in a deep draft.
