I'm relieved to hear that personally. Just way too important to the future of the club.

Well then he's just tied his own hands, they are IMO the Bruins 2 best trade assets. Though I find it hard to believe that Chia would make that public, isn't it better to keep potential trade partners guessing???

Yeah I know the Rask lovers will flame me but whatever......

It's pretty telling that Chiarelli said that on the record. He usually plays his cards pretty close to the vest.

Still, it's no big surprise. I doubt anyone would think he would anyway (well, anyone other than Eklund or his ilk.).

There's things you might need to say in order to make sure people are aware, and then there's things people should just know.

I still find it hilarious that anyone puts any weight into what a GM says. That's the single biggest surprise to me each season at the deadline. Apparently there are a lot of people in this world who must play poker with their cards face up.

Was he asked specifically about certain players, or did he volunteer that information?

If I were a GM attempting to do business with the Bruins, Rask and Hamilton would be the first players I'd inquire about. Seguin would be lower on the list, mainly because I wouldn't think Chiarelli would be interested in moving him. Rask is more plausible because of Thomas, Hamilton because he's yet to play a game in the NHL.

They were talking about teams interested in Rick Nash.

When Rick Nash if on the table, "untouchable" is suddenly redefined.

Jackets are looking for a young impact player, 2 top prospects and a first rounder.

LOL.

Sounds like Chia told Tim to pipe down on FB, in not so many words of course. :-)

The context is important, for sure. I'd like to know more as well.

For example, was the conversation focused around CBJ looking for a goalie and defenseman instead of a forward before they said this?

There are always ways to dance around the truth. If Chiarelli said something like "we're not looking to trade Hamilton or Rask," that's a different story. But if he came flat out and said he's not trading them, I believe him. That doesn't mean I'd believe every GM.

LOL.
The price for a guy who has scored 220 goals since 2005 for a franchise with the worst winning percentage in NHL history.

I am not convinced teams have that to give-or more truthfully are willing to give-along with taking on Nash's contract.

However I can see wanting Nash-just not sure this is a good deadline move (I could see it being more of a summer move and one many teams would inquire about).

OK, here is my plan for the Bruins...

Deal Spooner and a #1 for Carter this deadline....then in the summer deal Thomas to Chicago for their #1, Beach and Clendening...sign Gaustad 3 years, 8.4 mil, put Savard on LTIR...

12-13 Bruins....

Marchand-Bergeron-Seguin- 11.05mil
Lucic-DK-Horton- 13.25 mil
Peverley-Gaustad-J.Carter- 10.35 mil
Beach-Campbell-Thornton- 3.77 mil

Chara-Boychuk-10.37 mil
Seidenberg-(4 million dollar defenseman)- 7.25
Ference-McQuaid- 3.85 mil

Rask-Khudobin- 3.3875 mil

Following summer let Horton walk, divide his 4 mil up for raises for Lucic and Marchand (Seguin should be at 3.5 as is already)..elevate Cater to Horton's spot and Caron/Knight to the 3rd line.

Under the cap...see how easy? HAHA

In this case, Rask, Hamilton and a 1st easily gets a bloated Rick Nash....There is zero market right now for him. Summer is a different story, but Howson will be long gone by then.
