Toronto - Vancouver

To Toronto:

Cory Schneider, Keith Ballard

To Vancouver:

Jonas Gustavsson
Nikolai Kulemin
Carl Gunnarsson
2nd rounder

The salaries should work out pretty close. Toronto gets a goalie which they desperately need. Gustavsson will be quite adequate in a backup role in Vancouver. Kulemin will be an excellent piece for the Canucks to use in their playoff run, and Gunnarsson is a little better than Ballard.

If the Canucks want more, prospects/picks can be dealt.

Leafs already have two goalies that they can rotate and would rather keep their #2 defenceman and the most physical player and best defensive forward in the top 6.

Don't need Ballard, too many defencemen.

Schneider wouldn't help our team that much. He doesn't know what it's like to play behind Toronto's defence.

Case closed.

Not even close. Gunnarsson is the team's #2 defenceman, and is paid like a #6 for next year, followed by being an RFA.

Schneider's an upgrade over Gustavsson, but nowhere near enough to justify parting with Nikolai Kulemin, a 2nd round pick, and the massive downgrade from Gunnarsson-to-Ballard.

Counter offer:

To Toronto: Schneider
To Vancouver: Gustavsson, 2nd Round Pick, 5th round pick.

I don't see Canucks moving Schneider they need a good back up in the playoffs luingo is not always reliable.

Trading away the leafs two best defensive players is probably not a great idea.

I've heard great things of Gunnar but would he be in our top 4? Is he the right fit for Van? Is he worth giving up our playoff insurance?

I guess I'd like to see Vancouver stay pat for now, I really do think we need one more D but I also think we need one more top 6 and I don't think giving up our just in case goal tender is worth anything less and I wouldn't expect any GM to pay that price.

Gunnarsson wouldn't likely be in your top four, if your top four is already set with Edler, Hamhuis, Bieksa, and Salo. However, he is very capable of playing big time minutes. When he was healthy, he played on the top pairing with Phaneuf in all situations. Can log 20-25 minutes a night of smart, efficient hockey.

Left hand Dman, another Left shot LW and a back up who would not be retained after July 1st.

Nah I think ill keep our players and not add unnecessary contracts when Vancouver is so close to the contract limit.

A trade I might do, is Raymond for Kulemin. As like a Latendresse for Poliot trade.

If Toronto wants Schneider, they can throw those 1sts around again at the draft n we can work something out.

You sure?? Goaltending looked a bit weak tonight. Consistent goaltending is maybe the most underrated facet to team success.

Yeah they weren't great. Looked like they got demoralized after the first couple goals. I also saw Reimer get frozen deep in his net on the first goal and get beat blocker side in the same spot three teams. Schneider would be a significant upgrade.

With that said this trade doesn't make a lot of sense for either team. If we do a deal it will be Schneider for Schenn. Canucks have no use for another left side dman.

Nah it's missing Schenn, Vancouver has no need or desire to trade Schneider it'll take a huge overpayment to get him out of Vancouver right now, we have a need for him.

Schenn isn't moving for a goalie. Forget asking about Luke.

Why do Leaf fans continue to pretend he's valuable? Canucks will not trade Schneider for a 1 dimensional scrub.

Schneider is going to be the best goalie in the league in a few years. Only player on the leafs worth Schneider is Kessel and that would be a 1 for 1 trade.

But Schneider is only an unproven back up goalie who hasn't won a Stanley Cup or proved he can be a Number 1 goalie. Unproven, backup goalies who haven't won a Stanley Cup or proven they are really elite Number 1 goalies if given the chance aren't to be traded for more than a mid to late round draft pick. This was proven by numerous HF posters at the beginning of the season. Why are you trying to cheat the Leafs by saying they should also include Gustavsson and their 2nd round pick? Are you a Leaf hater?

Tebowz is obviously making a crazy bold statement but it wouldn't surprise me AT ALL if Schneids become a top goalie in the league

Schneider isn't close to Kessel value yet though
