Very happy to see he's sticking around. I think the Rangers would have offered up some big bucks to reunite him with Richards.

Could be the start of some moves coming.

Happy hockey day in the US.

Thought he'd take 4.5 or 4.75, but he's certainly worth all of 5M. I have a feeling this deal will look pretty awesome in a few years when he's a late-20s power forward in his prime.

Had no doubt this would get done, but nice to see it get out of the way.

Really like the years and cap hit. Very fair for both sides.

I figured it be between 4.5 - 5. Glad it's for six years.

Way to go Ray!

Not that bad a cap hit but I would've preffered $4m-$4.5m

Good length though.

As a UFA in a few seasons, he'd have gotten $6M+ per. 3 of those seasons are locked up at $5M now.

Term and number is still a steal considering he'll be putting up 60/70/80 points consistently.

Great job Ray, and Congrats James.

Shero bought 4 UFA years with this deal. When you look at what guys like Ville Leino and Tomas Fleischmann got paid James Neal looks like a hell of a bargain...

Hell of a bargain considering it takes him deep into UFA.

Well done Rejean.

Awesome deal. Those UFA years, he's going to be a steal.

Awesome. Just about the best realistic deal for the situation we would expect.

Don't forget the net increase to our payroll is only 2.1M since Neal's current hit is 2.9M.

It's looking more and more likely that they will try to offset ~$5mn in the off-season.
