Perfectly executed, Mr. Shero.

With the Crosby situation still up in there air, it sure is nice to know we now have a young, potential 40 goal scorer locked up for the next 6 years at a decent price. Hard to not like this deal.

Perfect contract, imo. He's worth it, and the length is good enough to keep him around for the long haul with Geno.

Reports are saying the cap could go up to ~$69M next season anyway.

Can't complain about this one. Vaults us to the top of cap used for next season, but considering the past few years you've got to think Shero is gonna work his magic yet again.

Love it.

Going to be a Nazi...re-signed.

If Neal resigned, this would be a completely different thread.

I think this sets the cap for Staal's extension at 5m as well.

Not really. We'll have 4.6 to sign no one of importance aside from a backup goalie. It's all gravy money to make the top 6 better, and to sign Niskanen if we want. The only other free agents are Sullivan, Asham, Park are UFA's. O'Reilly is a RFA.

Great re-signing. I figured Neal would get $5 million, but it's nice to see that it's a six-year deal. I thought it would've been 4-5 years.

Woohoo! I was just wondering to myself during yesterday's game when we were going to try to move on him for his next contract.

It's possible, but Neal had a pretty significant amount more production than Staal.

I think Staal should be just under 5m how it stands right now.

Yeah! Made my day.

Figured it'd be money and term similar to Bobby Ryan, but like people are saying, it's nice to get that extra year.

I agree. Staal has been hampered by injury the last two years though, and still produced at a good clip through it all.

I would be very comfortable giving him 4.75 or 5 million for four or five year term.

I think Neal could have gotten a lot more. He's still progressing his game and we are going to laugh at his cap hit come 3 years from now.

Shero... i love what you do.
