No thanks, Wisniewski, while overpaid, is worth more than Lilja and a 5th. What good does that do the CBJ??

And Brassard is available, but that package won't entice us.

I can't see Montreal trading for Brassard at the cost of Tinordi, and no way in hell Philly takes on Wiznewskis contract.

Pass from Montreal. Hefty price to pay for Brassard, especially since he'd line up on the 4th line. Darche is a fine throw in, but Tinordi looks good and White is a fan favorite.

Well, that package is probably worse than the OP's package. At any rate, Brassard still isn't really a piece Montreal needs, and Montreal needs Emelin a lot more.

Don't ever ask for Emelin in a trade with Montreal. Never.
He's like the first d-man since Komisarek that can throw huge hits regularly and fans don't want to let him go. Change him to Weber and a pick (2nd ? 3rd ?) maybe. Anyways, I don't see the Habs going after a center unless they trade one, as our top-3 is pretty much set (Desharnais, Plekanec, Eller)

Why would Philly want the Wiz? They just moved for Grossman and Kubina (together are less of a cap hit than Wiz).

And MTL won't be moving Tinordi (a projected top 4 dman) let alone adding White. Darche you can have for a conditional 7th rd pick (condition of you giving us the pick is if Gomez scores 50 goals this season)

And LOL to the offer of Emelin and Avtsin.

Brassard is not an upgrade on any of our top 3 centres whatsoever, so there is no need to offer up anything close to that value.

Jackets are best served to get someone to overpay for Nash and Carter and go from there

Pass from Philly, just traded for 2 new dmen and we're already stuck with enough terrible contracts. (Obviously in a cap free world I'd do it though).

Tinordi and White ain't going nowhere, especially for someone who's not needed at all.

These proposals have no considerations whatsoever for each teams' needs.

I wouldn't take Brassard for free. He isn't better than Plekanec, Desharnais or Eller.

That's not a very brilliant response, unless you were talking in hyperbole. Otherwise, the only player who's a clear cut above Brassard is Plekanec. And why exactly wouldn't you take for free someone who, even if he doesn't necessarily grabs a spot on the roster, could possibly land a low 1st or a 2nd + decent prospect on the market?

Desharnais has 20 more points than Brassard. Eller is a hundred times better defensively and has the same amount of points as Brassard. Brassard is on a pretty bad contract for what he brings, no way he'd land a low 1st or a 2nd+ prospect.

I agree with this. Habs do not have a need for Brassard. Tinordi is an important piece of our future defence. He represents everything we are lacking.

Why does Brassard need to be a centre? I'd put him on the wing, I'd think he would mesh well with AK and Pleks.

I would go something like Gionta for Brassard. If Columbus is doing a rebuild they need a solid veteran, quality player like Gionta.

Wisniewski isn't really even overpaid. The only reason he is overpaid at this point is because he can't stay on the ice. When he is on the ice however he is putting up a 50 point pace on a terrible team. That package for Wisniewski is insulting actually, try again. Actually don't, you were given a shot and you blew it.

Brassard has 11 points in 16 matches since Arniel was fired. Got back some confidence after going from the doghouse to enjoy hockey again.
Hope he stay, fun to watch.

I seriously doubt the Habs trade away that package for a guy that they don't really need.

montreal absolutely 100% not dealing three players that are not only part of their future but exactly what they need to shed their image as a soft team. not. going. to. happen.
i like brassard but he doesn't really upgrade us at center and certainly not at the expense of the players requested

This.

Brassard would be 4th on the centre depth.

Wish we could say yes, because it's completely absurd, but if you want Lilja for free we're cool with that.

I was responding on your premise that you wouldn't take Brassard for free. Big contract or not, Brassard is not a negative value asset, therefore I found your comment very exaggerated.
