Huh, interesting. Either tire kicking or a Carter deal. Can't see us paying the sticker price on Nash.

If Carter enters gotta think Grabo leaves.

What could TML offer for Nash? Grabo, Kadri, Schenn?

Red-eyed and lost three hours in the air? Must be pissed to do that for a morning meeting.

Obviously they'd be discussing Nash or Carter, but I'd say Tyutin might be a better fit...

Jeff Carter makes no sense. He's too similar to what we already have in Mikhail Grabovski.

Rick Nash on the other hand...after the way this team has responded... they could use a big time kick in the butt. They also probably do have a decent centre for him in the form of Tim Connolly. Move Grabovski to recover some of the futures required to get Nash.

There hasn't been any updates on Grabo's contract status either. I guess Burke and his agent might not agree how much he's worth. But as much as I think Carter can be successful in the right situation, I would be upset at taking that contract, especially if he flops hard.

I'll admit, I laughed

Would be awesome to be a fly on the wall of that room this morning. The last thing the Leafs and their fans need is a panic move mortgaging the future for someone like Nash or Carter.

Just sayin' but Leafs could add Carter who is better than Grabovski and then trade Grabo. There has been an offer on the table for him. A center with size + 2-way game + 40 goal potential doesn't come by everyday. Would be a solid fit on our 2nd line with the ability to slot up with Kessel if it needs be.

At this point, I just don't see the fit for Nash. We have a game breaker in Kessel who is among league leaders in goals and points. Nash would add size but we need better centers instead of wingers. Every contending team has great depth at center and most of them have legitimate #1. It doesn't make sense to trade a lot of assets for a player we don't have to have. Lupul has been great too.

I would be happy if Carter or Nash came to Toronto. I do not want Gardiner moved, though.

This is a frightening trade deadline. So much work needs to be done, so many tough decisions.

Damn, I missed the game. I would love to see this. Watching Burke's reactions is more entertaining than the games themselves usually. And yes, it was Lombardi (I saw it posted in the Leafs forum).

Would CLB management and owners do:

Grabo + mid-prospect(Blacker, Nicholls ect) + conditional pick (likely 2nd)
for
Carter

To the fans it looks like a FA, a likely roll the dice prospect and middle of the pack pick.

To the owners it looks like a chance to save face, and money. In terms of media, they have drove Jeff out of town, and may be lucky to even get rid of him.

IF they wanted to go full rebuild.
CHI=
Grabo

Tor=
Carter

CLB=
2nd(tor)
2nd(Chi)
Beach or Pirri
Blacker

I think that CLB will require some better assets in return for Carter, even with the anticipated cap relief.

Hell, even Gomez garnered a nice asset in return from Montreal.
