Yep. We're the Washington Generals of the NHL. Subtract Nash from our lineup and we couldn't even win the AHL.

We gave up crap for Phaneuf. That isn't happening with Nash.

Kadri is going to be an NHL player and I think a pretty good one at that. But he won't be the cornerstone for a trade involving either Nash or Carter.

So, if the younger player who was drafted a year after after Cody scores 40-50 points next year, he won't be "light years" behind 34 career point Cody any longer?

dude, I like Cody, but you seem to be holding Naz to a different standard.

I haven't seen a trade proposal yet that gives Columbus a conerstone.

JVR and his concussion with 89 career points?
18 year old Couterier?
Bernier? Hodgson? Schneider?

Hodgson is 22; Kadri is 21. Not sure where you got your informaiton.

That's not the point of my question. He was talking about Nash's contract. I just wanted to know what Leaf fans think of Phaneuf and his contract and whether you would rather have Nash and his contract for his production/potential/being a forward rather than Phaneuf.

Phaneuf easily. He's our #1D and Nash would be behind Kessel on the depth chart.

I think the target is Carter here. If they're looking to move Nash it only makes sense to move Carter as well. He's on a friendlier cap hit and is a position of need. A top line of Lupul-Carter-Kessel would be nasty.

Exactly...i am one guy who has been getting hammered for saying i want Carter...but i want Carter. Couple your post with the fact that until Boston moved Kessel to the wing he was a center, i think Carter/Lupul/Kessel would be lethal.

I hope for the sake of all the loyal Bluejackets fans Howson will be smart enough asking the players he is targeting, if they want to play for his team. Otherwise this will be Carter 2.0 all over again.

Gardiner already said that he doesn't want to get traded.

Dubinsky did, too.

However, I can't believe that there's too many players that would like the idea of being traded to the 30th place team that is in the process of blowing it up and starting over.

Love to have Nash with Ottawa but I don't want Mason coming back though. Your package sans Mason is probably what it would take to get Nash with Ottawa.

As for Burke meeting with Howson I can see it being to discuss Carter moreso than Nash. Carter is more of a player that Toronto needs.

Agreed!!!! Plus the size that Carter brings to the top line, than slotting Bozak into a defensive role, with the ability to move up the depth chart, probably the most logical move the Leafs can make.

Would you do anything else if the Leafs were able Carter? or would Carter be enough for this season?
